- • As the Staff Product Manager for Vanta's Identity Platform, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of how businesses earn and prove trust. This is a high-autonomy role where you will own the product vision and roadmap for our foundational Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems. These systems are critical, powering user authentication, authorization, and identity modeling across every Vanta product. You will be responsible for ensuring these systems scale effectively to meet the needs of our rapidly growing and increasingly diverse customer base, ranging from nimble 10-person startups to large, complex federal agencies.
- • Your primary focus will be on driving strategic initiatives that enhance Vanta's core security and compliance offerings. A key project will be the User Model split, a complex, cross-team data migration initiative that will separate IAM Users (responsible for authentication and permissions) from Personnel Records (focused on GRC and compliance). This will require meticulous planning, cross-functional collaboration, and a deep understanding of our data architecture and customer workflows.
- • You will also define and lead the evolution of Ownership frameworks, specifically charting the path from basic, binary object-level ownership to a sophisticated, customer-customizable, role-based permissions system. This new paradigm will be designed to serve the distinct needs of both small, agile startups and large, enterprise-level organizations, ensuring Vanta remains a flexible and powerful solution for all.
- • A significant part of your role will involve shaping Vanta's overarching authorization strategy. You will proactively guide product teams to build upon shared, robust platform capabilities rather than developing ad hoc, siloed permission solutions. This will ensure consistency, scalability, and maintainability across the Vanta ecosystem.
- • You will contribute to the development of our multi-tenant access architecture. This is crucial for enabling seamless cross-domain experiences for key user groups such as auditors, Managed Service Providers (MSPs), and multi-workspace enterprise customers, enhancing their ability to manage access efficiently and securely.
- • This role demands navigating complex dependencies across multiple Vanta teams, including GRC, Trust, Collaboration, and PEX. You will be responsible for harmonizing the diverse authorization needs of these teams, ensuring a unified and effective approach to access control.
- • You will partner closely with engineering and technical domain experts to strike a delicate balance between the intricate requirements of enterprise clients and the need for comprehensibility and ease of use for our smaller customers. This requires a deep understanding of technical trade-offs and user experience considerations.
- • A critical aspect of your role will be translating complex technical IAM concepts into clear, compelling business value. You will effectively communicate the impact of your product decisions to leadership, Go-To-Market (GTM) teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring alignment and buy-in.
- • We encourage the use of AI to amplify your skills and enhance your work. You will demonstrate curiosity, a willingness to learn, and sound judgment in applying AI responsibly to improve efficiency and drive greater impact in your product management endeavors.
- • This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on Vanta's core infrastructure and directly influence the trust and security posture of thousands of businesses worldwide. You will be at the forefront of developing innovative solutions that address the evolving challenges of identity and access management in the SaaS landscape.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8-12+ years of product management experience, with at least 3-4 years at a Staff/Senior level in platform or infrastructure roles.
- • Proven experience in enterprise platform product management, specifically with permissions, RBAC, multi-tenancy, or identity systems at scale in a B2B SaaS environment.
- • Demonstrated systems thinking ability: capacity to reason about how authentication, authorization, and identity interconnect and affect all product surfaces, and to explain these complex relationships simply.
- • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with a track record of building consensus across Product, Engineering, Design, and GTM teams.
- • Excellent storytelling ability for technical concepts, capable of explaining the business value of authorization architecture decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
- • Deep customer empathy at multiple scales, understanding and designing for the vastly different permission needs of both small startups and large federal agencies.
- • Comfort with ambiguity and experience navigating complex platform problems with many open design questions and competing stakeholder needs.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Industry-competitive salary and equity package.
- • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with 100% of employee-only benefit premiums covered for most medical plans.
- • 16 weeks fully-paid Parental Leave for all new parents.
- • Health & wellness stipend to support your well-being.
- • Remote workspace, internet, and cellphone stipend to ensure you have the resources to work effectively from home.
- • Family planning benefits to support your growing family.
- • Matching 401(k) contribution with immediate vesting for your long-term financial security.
- • Flexible PTO policy, coupled with 80 hours of dedicated Sick Time, and 11 company-paid holidays.
- • Virtual team building activities, lunch and learns, and other company-wide events to foster connection and learning.
