  • • Join Simply Protein for Pets (SPFP) as a Staff Senior Accountant and become an integral part of our mission to deliver high-protein, natural pet nutrition solutions that promote healthier, longer lives for pets. In this remote role, you will report directly to the VP, Finance, and play a pivotal part in managing critical accounting functions. Your expertise will be essential in overseeing revenue and accounts receivable, ensuring robust cash management, and upholding stringent internal controls. This position is designed for a technically adept and detail-oriented professional who is eager to make a significant contribution within a dynamic, high-growth, and innovative environment.
  • • At SPFP, we are redefining pet wellness through science-backed nutrition and a steadfast commitment to sustainable, transparent growth. Our products are trusted by major retailers and cherished by consumers, a testament to our advanced sourcing, rigorous quality standards, and data-driven innovation. We pride ourselves on creating treats that meet the highest expectations for safety, taste, and performance, and your role as Staff Senior Accountant will be crucial in maintaining the financial integrity that underpins our success.
  • • Your core responsibilities will encompass managing the day-to-day accounting operations. This includes meticulous oversight of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and performing thorough bank reconciliations. You will be instrumental in supporting the month-end and year-end close processes, which involves preparing accurate journal entries, performing critical reconciliations, and developing supporting schedules to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements.
  • • A key focus of this role will be maintaining the accurate recording of sales, cost of goods sold, inventory, and operating expenses in strict accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). You will be responsible for reconciling inventory balances across various entities, including third-party manufacturers, co-packers, and 3PL warehouses. This will involve diligently investigating any variances and ensuring the proper capitalization of costs associated with inventory.
  • • Furthermore, you will assist in the preparation and analysis of trade spend, promotional accruals, and customer deductions. This requires ensuring that all documentation is complete and that the accounting treatment is appropriate and compliant. You will also be tasked with preparing and delivering weekly cash flow and working capital reports, providing clear insights into key drivers and highlighting any significant variances.
  • • To support internal stakeholders, you will assist in the preparation of monthly management reports and financial dashboards. A significant aspect of your role will involve partnering closely with our operations and supply chain teams. This collaboration is vital for validating inventory movements, purchase order activity, and freight costs, ensuring that all financial data related to these areas is accurate and up-to-date.
  • • Your involvement will extend to supporting the annual audit process. This includes preparing all necessary schedules and acting as a key liaison with our external auditors. A critical component of your work will be to maintain and strengthen our internal controls and accounting procedures, thereby ensuring the integrity of our financial data and overall compliance.
  • • We are committed to continuous improvement, and you will be expected to identify opportunities to enhance our financial processes. This includes streamlining reporting, optimizing workflows, and maximizing the effective use of our ERP and accounting systems. You will also support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing accurate actual financial data, conducting variance analyses, and offering insightful commentary on key cost drivers.
  • • Ensuring compliance with sales tax, state filings, and other regulatory requirements will be another important facet of your responsibilities. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to grow your career in a fast-paced, mission-driven company that values innovation and a commitment to pet wellness. You will be a key player in shaping the financial future of Simply Protein for Pets, contributing directly to our ability to provide exceptional nutrition for pets across the globe.
