At Workato, we believe in balancing productivity with self-care, offering a vibrant and dynamic work environment complemented by a multitude of benefits designed for your well-being, both inside and outside of work. We are recognized as an "enterprise startup to bet your career on" by Business Insider, ranked among Forbes’ Cloud 100 top private cloud companies, and celebrated by Deloitte Tech Fast 500 as one of the fastest-growing tech companies. Quartz also named us the #1 best company for remote workers.
- • As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer on the Infra-Storage team, you will be instrumental in architecting, building, scaling, and operating the database infrastructure that underpins Workato's distributed enterprise automation platform. This platform processes billions of events daily, making reliability and performance paramount. You will specifically lead the evolution of our database platform, with a strong focus on ClickHouse and other critical databases running on Kubernetes.
- • Your primary responsibility will be to design, deploy, and maintain ClickHouse clusters at a global scale within Kubernetes. This involves ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and efficient resource utilization for these critical data stores. You will be at the forefront of managing stateful workloads in a containerized environment, leveraging your expertise in Kubernetes concepts like operators, StatefulSets, and persistent volumes.
- • Beyond ClickHouse, you will build and operate infrastructure for a variety of other database technologies within Kubernetes, including PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, and potentially others. This requires a broad understanding of different database systems, their operational characteristics, and how to manage them effectively in a cloud-native setting.
- • A key aspect of this role is driving automation. You will develop and implement automated workflows for database provisioning, scaling, backup, and recovery. This includes creating and maintaining Kubernetes operators and manifests tailored for database workloads, ensuring that our database fleet can be managed efficiently and reliably.
- • Performance optimization is critical. You will continuously work to enhance database performance, reliability, and resource efficiency within our containerized infrastructure. This involves in-depth analysis, tuning, and proactive problem-solving to ensure our systems can handle increasing loads and maintain peak operational status.
- • You will manage our infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, primarily with Terraform. This ensures that our infrastructure is version-controlled, repeatable, and auditable, promoting consistency and reducing manual errors.
- • Leading incident response and post-mortem processes for database-related issues is a significant part of the role. You will be responsible for quickly diagnosing and resolving production incidents, as well as conducting thorough post-mortems to identify root causes and implement preventative measures.
- • Collaboration is key. You will work closely with Data Engineers and application teams to align on database architecture, capacity planning, and performance requirements. This cross-functional interaction ensures that our infrastructure effectively supports the needs of the business.
- • You will also contribute to building internal tooling to enhance database observability and streamline operational workflows. This includes developing dashboards, alerts, and automation scripts that provide deeper insights into database health and performance, and simplify day-to-day operations.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of Workato's data infrastructure, working with cutting-edge technologies in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You will have a direct impact on the reliability and scalability of a platform used by thousands of businesses worldwide.
