đź“‹ Description
- • Join ALSO, an innovative electric mobility company born from Rivian, as a Staff Site Reliability Engineer and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of urban transportation. You will be instrumental in building and operating the cloud-native systems that power our electric vehicles, from collecting critical telemetry data to managing our growing fleet and enabling sophisticated cohort-based analytics. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your deep expertise in distributed systems, Kubernetes, and AWS to ensure the utmost reliability and operational excellence of our cutting-edge platforms, directly impacting the performance and efficiency of our small EVs designed to address global mobility challenges.
- • In this dynamic role, you will be at the forefront of operationalizing complex microservices-based platforms, ensuring their seamless performance on Kubernetes (specifically EKS) and AWS ECS. A significant part of your day-to-day will involve optimizing the ingestion of vehicle telemetry data and refining data pipelines. You will employ streaming systems like Kafka or Kinesis to handle high-throughput, low-latency workloads, ensuring that critical data flows efficiently and reliably. Your responsibilities will extend to leading comprehensive reliability engineering efforts, which includes defining and tracking Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and establishing robust incident response protocols to minimize downtime and impact. You will implement and manage advanced observability solutions, utilizing tools such as Datadog, Grafana, and sophisticated logging and tracing pipelines to gain deep insights into system behavior and proactively identify potential issues. Furthermore, you will develop and maintain resilient API Gateway-based service architectures, ensuring secure and efficient communication between various services. A key aspect of your role will be owning the on-call rotations, managing PagerDuty schedules, and refining incident response frameworks to ensure rapid and effective resolution of any operational incidents.
- • You will also be responsible for automating infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure-as-Code principles with tools like Terraform, and implementing robust CI/CD pipelines with ArgoCD and Concourse to streamline deployments and ensure consistency. A core focus will be on improving system resilience, designing and implementing effective failover strategies, and enhancing multi-region reliability to guarantee high availability. Collaboration will be key as you partner closely with product and platform teams to build and enhance critical systems for vehicle lifecycle management and cohort-based analytics, ensuring that our data infrastructure directly supports business objectives and product innovation. This role demands a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring that our systems are not only functional but also exceptionally reliable and scalable.
- • This role offers a unique chance to contribute to a mission-driven company that is redefining personal transportation. You will have the opportunity to deepen your expertise in cloud-native technologies, large-scale data processing, and the intricacies of automotive telemetry. By driving reliability and operational excellence, you will directly influence the success of our innovative EV products and contribute to a more sustainable future. You will gain invaluable experience in architecting and managing complex, distributed systems in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, working alongside a talented team of engineers and product specialists. The impact of your work will be tangible, as you help build the foundational technology that enables our vehicles to connect, communicate, and perform optimally, ultimately inspiring more people to embrace electric mobility.
- • The team at ALSO is a passionate collective of builders, dreamers, and innovators, united by a shared vision to create entirely new, vertically integrated, small EVs. Originally conceived as part of Rivian, ALSO is now forging its own path, dedicated to addressing global mobility challenges with vehicles that are more affordable, enjoyable, and significantly more efficient than traditional options. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, the company has assembled a world-class team drawing talent from leading brands across the technology, automotive, cycling, outdoor recreation, and retail sectors. This collaborative environment fosters hands-on work, encouraging the imagination, design, and construction of novel solutions to pressing transportation issues.
- • As a Staff Site Reliability Engineer, you will be a key contributor to this exciting mission. Your work will directly support the development and deployment of scalable, cloud-native systems essential for vehicle telemetry, fleet management, and advanced analytics. You will be empowered to take ownership of critical infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, performance, and security. This role provides a platform to not only apply your existing skills but also to grow and learn within a rapidly evolving industry, making a tangible impact on the future of mobility.
