- • Architect and deliver the beating heart of JioStar’s backend: you will design, build, and harden distributed systems that serve 750+ million weekly viewers, handling millions of concurrent streams, ad impressions, and user interactions with sub-second latency and five-nines availability.
- • Own the full lifecycle of mission-critical projects—from whiteboard sketches and RFCs to production rollout, monitoring, and iterative optimization—ensuring every line of code you ship can scale 10× without breaking a sweat.
- • Drive long-term technical strategy by evaluating emerging storage engines, messaging patterns, and cloud services, then championing the adoption of those that give JioStar a durable competitive edge in live sports, premium content, and hyper-personalized advertising.
- • Establish and evangelize best-in-class observability: define SLIs/SLOs, craft real-time dashboards, automate anomaly detection, and lead blameless post-mortems that turn incidents into institutional knowledge.
- • Optimize for both user delight and business impact—whether shaving milliseconds off ad-load times, reducing origin-to-edge data transfer costs, or enabling new monetization models through smarter ad-insertion pipelines.
- • Mentor and level-up a growing team of backend, data, and DevOps engineers through pair programming, architecture deep-dives, and crisp code reviews that raise the bar for readability, testability, and operational hygiene.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, and video-platform engineers to translate ambitious product roadmaps into resilient, cost-efficient systems that delight viewers from Mumbai to Manhattan.
- • Champion security and privacy by design—embedding encryption, access controls, and compliance checkpoints into every layer of the stack to safeguard viewer data and advertiser trust.
- • Continuously tune performance: profile JVM/Go runtimes, optimize Kafka consumer groups, refine DynamoDB partition keys, and squeeze every last drop of efficiency out of AWS Graviton, EBS gp3, and CloudFront edge caches.
- • Foster a culture of experimentation—run A/B tests on new caching strategies, blue-green deployments on EKS, and chaos-engineering drills that prove our systems can gracefully degrade under real-world stress.
- • Contribute to JioStar’s open-source footprint by abstracting reusable libraries, publishing tech blogs, and speaking at meetups—amplifying our engineering brand while giving back to the community.
- • Stay relentlessly curious about the evolving media landscape: from low-latency HLS and DASH to server-side ad stitching and real-time bidding, you’ll anticipate viewer expectations and translate them into scalable backend innovations.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6–9 years of backend development in Java, Golang, or Python, with deep expertise in at least one and working knowledge of the others.
- • Proven track record designing and running distributed, high-throughput systems at web scale (≥1 M QPS) with strict latency and availability targets.
- • Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, EKS, DynamoDB, S3, MSK/Kinesis), Kafka or Pulsar, and modern CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Terraform).
- • Demonstrated ability to own projects end-to-end, prioritize ruthlessly, and deliver on aggressive timelines in a fast-moving, product-centric environment.
- • Strong mentorship and communication skills—comfortable presenting architecture to executives and pairing with junior engineers in the same week.
- • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field; equivalent practical experience welcomed.
