- • As a Staff Software Engineer 1 (L6) at Stepful Inc., you will play a critical role in advancing the company’s mission to expand access to healthcare careers through innovative, technology-driven education. Your work will directly impact learners from diverse backgrounds by building scalable, AI-enhanced platforms that improve educational outcomes and job placement success.
- • Day to day, you will design, develop, and maintain full-stack features across key product areas including a world-class Learning Management System, AI-powered career services tools, internal workforce enablement platforms, and scalable content management systems. You will take ownership of the full development lifecycle, from architecture to deployment, while mentoring peers and driving technical excellence.
- • Stepful is a mission-driven, Y Combinator-backed EdTech startup revolutionizing allied healthcare training with AI-supported, instructor-led programs. The company partners with major healthcare employers to create talent pipelines for roles like Medical Assistants and Pharmacy Technicians, and was recently named the #1 EdTech company in the U.S. by TIME for 2025.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in full-stack engineering, generative AI applications in education, and scalable system design. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the technical direction of impactful products, lead complex initiatives, and grow as a technical leader in a fast-paced, values-driven startup environment.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of full-stack engineering experience with end-to-end ownership of the development lifecycle
- • Proficiency in React and TypeScript on the frontend
- • Familiarity with at least one backend language: Python, Node.js, or Ruby on Rails
- • Experience in a direct-to-consumer startup, preferably in EdTech or healthcare (bonus)
- • Strong problem-solving skills and enthusiasm for learning new technologies
- • Comfort working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments typical of early-stage startups
