📋 Description

• As a Staff Software Engineer at Fivetran, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining the data pipeline service that moves terabytes of customer data from diverse sources to data warehouses, ensuring data is canonical, reliable, and ready to query—directly supporting Fivetran’s mission to make data access as simple and reliable as electricity.
• You will work on a globally distributed Kubernetes-based platform, contributing to core infrastructure that powers data integration for thousands of enterprises, with responsibilities spanning from low-level bug fixes and performance optimizations to designing new destinations and shaping architectural decisions for scalable, high-throughput systems.
• You will serve as a technical leader within your team, driving engineering excellence by writing and reviewing code, mentoring junior engineers, influencing system design, and upholding best practices in software development, automation, and distributed systems under strict SLAs.
• You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineers to process data into clean, incremental, automated updates using Java, SQL, NoSQL, cloud APIs (AWS, GCP, Azure), and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), ensuring data integrity and reliability at scale.
• You will operate in a hybrid work model based out of Fivetran’s Bengaluru office, with two days per week in-person to foster collaboration, innovation, and team cohesion, while enjoying the flexibility of remote work the remaining days.
• You will join a mission-driven, high-performing engineering culture that values technical rigor, ownership, and continuous learning, where your contributions directly impact product reliability and customer success in the fast-growing data integration market.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong technical and problem-solving skills with recent hands-on software development experience
• Experience architecting reliable distributed systems with emphasis on high-volume data management in enterprise or web-scale environments under strict SLAs
• Expertise in building back-end services and data systems, including deep knowledge of Java, AWS, cloud-based APIs, databases, data warehouses, and software design best practices
• Broad technical knowledge spanning software development, automation, algorithms, and data structures
• Entrepreneurial mindset, excellent communication, and technical leadership skills, including experience mentoring and guiding junior staff
• Strong knowledge of SQL query writing and understanding of query execution plans
