đź“‹ Description

  • • Standard Bots is on a mission to democratize real-world automation, making sophisticated robotics accessible to a wider audience by lowering the barrier to entry. We empower individuals and developers to solve complex challenges without requiring specialized robotics expertise, focusing on simplicity and ease of use to unlock productivity across new industries.
  • • As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a critical technical leader, acting as a force multiplier across the organization. This role is designed for an individual who thrives on tackling the most ambiguous, complex, and high-leverage engineering challenges that often span multiple teams and domains. Your influence will extend beyond individual contributions, shaping the future direction of our systems and elevating the technical standards of the entire engineering department.
  • • You will be instrumental in defining and owning the long-term technical vision and strategy for significant components of our platform. This involves anticipating future needs related to scalability, security, and product evolution, looking at least a year ahead. A key responsibility will be designing and championing new system architectures that emphasize clear, stable interfaces and domain decoupling. This architectural approach is crucial for accelerating the development velocity of multiple feature teams, enabling them to work more independently and efficiently.
  • • Furthermore, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and continuously improving engineering excellence standards. This includes defining and enforcing best practices for code quality, comprehensive documentation, and the critical non-functional requirements such as performance and reliability that all systems must meet. Your leadership will set the benchmark for technical quality across the engineering organization.
  • • Leading complex, cross-functional projects will be a core aspect of your role. You will proactively identify, define, and spearhead ambitious technical programs, such as major platform refactors or organization-wide reliability initiatives, requiring seamless coordination across two to three engineering teams. This leadership demands the ability to cut through organizational and technical complexity, making clear, pragmatic trade-offs that effectively balance long-term strategic goals with the imperative of timely delivery against business objectives.
  • • While driving these large-scale initiatives, you will also be expected to deliver technically deep, cross-cutting software solutions. Your primary focus will be on back-end systems, but you must maintain a necessary full-stack perspective to ensure robust end-to-end integration and successful deployment.
  • • In the realm of production excellence, you will drive deep-dive root cause analyses (RCAs) for critical, cross-domain production issues. The insights gained from these analyses will be transformed into concrete, prioritized engineering work designed to prevent recurrence across the entire fleet of systems. This proactive approach to reliability is paramount.
  • • As a technical multiplier, you will mentor and coach Senior and Mid-Level engineers throughout the organization. Your guidance will significantly contribute to their technical growth, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency, quality, and capabilities of the engineering department. You will also be responsible for influencing and holding others accountable for maintaining higher quality standards, including reliability, performance, and security, across the entire software team.
  • • This role requires a highly self-driven, resourceful, and technically profound engineer who can operate with complete independence and navigate complex technical landscapes with confidence. You will be a key player in shaping the future of automation technology at Standard Bots.
