📋 Description

• As a Staff Software Engineer at Definely, you will help shape how the company builds and scales its products, operating across the stack to influence both user experience and underlying systems while driving technical and product decisions.
• You will lead end-to-end development of product features, design scalable systems for AI-driven workflows, translate complex AI capabilities into intuitive user experiences, and work across the stack using TypeScript and Python to contribute to both frontend and backend systems.
• You will collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering leadership to shape what is built and how it is built, raise engineering standards, mentor other engineers, and contribute to technical strategy and architectural decisions.
• Definely is building the Review layer for legal work in the age of AI, helping lawyers verify complex AI-generated contracts by modelling them as systems of definitions and dependencies, and is trusted by leading law firms and global enterprises, backed by Microsoft, Google, and Octopus Ventures.
• In this role, you will have the opportunity to solve meaningful user problems, elevate engineering quality, influence product direction, and grow as a technical leader in a fast-paced, product-driven environment shaping a new category in legal tech.

🎯 Requirements

• Significant experience building and scaling complex, user-facing products across the stack
• Strong experience with modern frontend development (React, TypeScript) and solid backend experience (e.g. Python or similar)
• Ability to design and reason about distributed systems, APIs, and data flows
• Strong product mindset, thinking in terms of user problems and outcomes, not just implementation
• Experience working closely with product and design to shape solutions, not just deliver them
• Ability to take ownership of ambiguous problems and drive them through to impact
