📋 Description

  • As a Staff Software Engineer at Okta, you will play a pivotal role in the evolution and enhancement of our cutting-edge SaaS Connectors team. This is an opportunity to work on a critical component of the Okta Identity Cloud, directly impacting how organizations securely manage user access and automate identity lifecycles across a vast array of Software-as-a-Service applications.
  • You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining robust connectors that enable seamless integration with popular SaaS platforms such as Workday, Salesforce, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and many others. Your work will empower our customers to efficiently import and provision identity and entitlement data, streamlining their Joiner, Mover, and Leaver (JML) processes.
  • Collaborating closely with the Lifecycle Management (LCM) team, you will contribute to a comprehensive platform that automates essential HR and IT workflows, ensuring that the right people have the right access at the right time, securely and efficiently.
  • This role demands a deep technical understanding and the ability to translate complex application-specific protocols and requirements into scalable, reliable, and performant connector solutions.
  • You will engage with senior engineering leadership on major development initiatives, contributing to architectural decisions and driving the implementation of new features and improvements.
  • A key aspect of your role will involve interfacing with a diverse range of cross-functional teams, including Architects, Quality Assurance (QA), Product Management, Technical Support, Documentation, and User Experience (UX) teams. This collaboration is essential for understanding the nuances of various SaaS applications and building connectors that meet their specific needs and standards.
  • You will actively participate in the refinement of requirements with Product Management, ensuring a clear and shared understanding of project goals and technical specifications.
  • Prototyping will be a crucial part of your workflow, allowing for rapid validation of scalability, performance, and architectural approaches before full-scale implementation.
  • You will be responsible for designing and implementing new features, ensuring they are accompanied by comprehensive functional and unit tests. Furthermore, you will integrate robust monitoring and alerting mechanisms to ensure the health and stability of the connectors in production environments.
  • Code reviews will be a regular activity, providing an opportunity to share knowledge, maintain code quality, and contribute to the collective expertise of the engineering team. You will also be involved in performance tuning and optimization to ensure our connectors operate at peak efficiency.
  • Working closely with the QA team, you will help define and implement thorough test coverage strategies, ensuring that application-specific features are rigorously tested and validated.
  • A significant part of the role involves troubleshooting and supporting customer issues. This includes deep-diving into logs (e.g., Splunk, Syslogs) to debug complex problems and provide timely resolutions, ensuring customer satisfaction and trust in the Okta platform.
  • As a Staff Software Engineer, you are expected to provide technical leadership and mentorship to more junior engineers, fostering their growth and development while elevating the overall technical capabilities of the team.
  • You will contribute to building software systems designed for managing and deploying reliable, performant infrastructure and product code at scale within a cloud environment.
  • Your expertise will be vital in working with RESTful APIs and SOAP APIs, understanding their intricacies and leveraging them effectively for connector development.
  • You will be a key contributor to Okta's mission of making identity the foundation of security and growth, enabling businesses worldwide to operate with confidence and agility.
  • This role offers the chance to work with a leading independent provider of enterprise identity solutions, contributing to a platform trusted by thousands of organizations globally.
  • Embrace Okta's culture of celebrating diverse perspectives and experiences, contributing your unique insights to a team of lifelong learners.
