📋 Description

• Lead the design and implementation of complex, production-grade systems that underpin Relevance AI’s platform at scale, ensuring reliability and long-term maintainability across high-traffic AI workflows.
• Provide architectural guidance and cross-team technical leadership to ensure consistency in system design, infrastructure, and engineering practices across multiple squads and projects.
• Own significant platform surface areas end-to-end — from initial system design and development through deployment, observability, monitoring, and iterative improvement based on customer feedback and performance metrics.
• Collaborate closely with product, go-to-market, and engineering leadership to translate customer needs and business objectives into clear, actionable technical strategies and roadmaps.
• Mentor and uplevel engineers within and beyond your immediate team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and knowledge sharing through code reviews, pairing, and formal/informal coaching.
• Shape and evolve engineering standards, processes, and best practices as the organization scales, including CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and deployment protocols.
• Design and build scalable backend systems using Node.js, Express.js, and TypeScript, integrated with PostgreSQL and MongoDB, to power core agent and tool-building capabilities within the AI workforce platform.
• Develop and maintain frontend interfaces using React and Vue.js to deliver intuitive, responsive experiences for users interacting with AI agents and workflow builders.
• Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS using Kubernetes, Terraform, and Vercel to ensure high availability, security, and performance for enterprise customers including Canva, Databricks, and Activision Blizzard.
• Work with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex daily to enhance productivity, automate repetitive tasks, and stay current with advancements in AI-assisted development.
• Translate complex technical requirements into clear communication for both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment on system capabilities, limitations, and timelines.
• Prioritize customer-centric outcomes by evaluating technical decisions for their impact on reliability, scalability, usability, and downstream user experience across global enterprises.
• Drive innovation in agentic automation by contributing to the development of real-time conversational layers, enterprise-grade platform features, and intelligent agent workflows that redefine how teams delegate work to AI.
• Actively participate in defining the technical direction of the company as a key contributor in a high-autonomy, low-ego environment with minimal bureaucratic layers and rapid shipping cycles.
• Contribute to the evolution of Relevance AI’s engineering culture by advocating for best practices in observability, security, compliance, and developer experience.

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience (full-stack or back-end focused), ideally within fast-paced, high-growth, and complex technical environments.
• Clear evidence of operating at Staff level — driving architecture, mentoring teams, and influencing technical direction across multiple squads or projects.
• Strong technical foundations in cloud infrastructure (AWS) and APIs (REST/GraphQL), with proven experience in Node.js, TypeScript, and modern web frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to own complex, ambiguous problems end-to-end and consistently deliver high-quality, high-impact outcomes.
• Customer-centric mindset with focus on reliability, scalability, and the downstream effects of technical decisions on real users.
• Deep interest in AI and enthusiasm for building category-defining products, with active use of AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex in daily workflow.
