Staff Software Engineer, AI Developer Tooling

📋 Description

• • As a Staff Software Engineer in AI Developer Tooling at Sentry, you will own the AI-assisted coding domain within Platform Engineering, working across all engineering teams to make internal developer systems accessible to AI coding agents via APIs, enabling end-to-end automation of software development workflows.
• • Day to day, you will audit internal developer systems to identify gaps in API accessibility for AI agents, prioritize and drive work to expose these systems programmatically, build harness tooling and context systems that improve AI-generated pull request quality, automate high-volume low-priority engineering tasks like dependency upgrades and bug fixes, and design internal productivity tools such as dashboards and AI-assisted triage systems.
• • You will sit within Platform Engineering at Sentry, a company building performance and error monitoring tools used by over 100,000 organizations including Disney, Microsoft, and Atlassian, with a hybrid work model requiring in-office collaboration on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at its San Francisco hub.
• • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in AI-agent integration, developer experience, and large-scale system design while driving cross-team technical initiatives that directly improve how Sentry engineers ship software, with opportunities to influence senior leadership and shape the future of AI-assisted development at scale.
