- • Lead the design and evolution of Fieldguide’s core platform services, including foundational systems, APIs, and shared primitives that underpin every product surface and AI agent
- • Build reusable platform capabilities that amplify the productivity of product and AI engineers, transforming complex challenges into standardized, scalable building blocks
- • Define and own the architecture for delivering new product features across multi-tenant SaaS, enterprise single-tenant, and government-cloud environments
- • Partner directly with product, design, and AI engineering leaders to translate customer needs into strategic platform investments that drive velocity and reliability
- • Drive cross-team initiatives to improve system consistency, product deployment speed, and operational reliability across the engineering organization
- • Establish and enforce standards for service design, data modeling, and integration patterns used by all engineering teams at Fieldguide
- • Maintain and enhance the internal developer platform, including deployment tooling, observability systems, and agentic engineering capabilities
- • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers across the organization, raising the technical bar for platform engineering and fostering best practices in system design
- • Own end-to-end delivery of platform initiatives, from conception to deployment, ensuring alignment with enterprise customer requirements and scalability goals
- • Evaluate and make strategic decisions on what to build in-house versus what to procure or leverage from third-party solutions, balancing innovation with operational efficiency
- • Contribute hands-on to complex codebases, conducting thorough code reviews and ensuring architectural integrity across platform components
- • Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to ensure platform compliance, resilience, and performance under high-load enterprise conditions
- • Shape the technical direction of Fieldguide’s platform by prioritizing investments that reduce cognitive load for product teams while increasing system robustness
- • Maintain deep technical involvement in system evolution while providing leadership and guidance to engineers across multiple product domains
- • Ensure platform decisions align with Fieldguide’s mission of enabling trust in cybersecurity, privacy, and financial audits through reliable, scalable software
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of experience in software engineering with significant focus on building product-facing platforms or foundational application services
- • Strong track record of designing APIs, distributed systems, and shared platforms that other engineers rely on
- • Deep fluency with modern cloud platforms (AWS preferred), Kubernetes, and distributed systems architecture
- • Proven experience operating as a technical leader across multiple engineering teams without direct managerial authority
- • Excellent judgment in determining what to build into the platform versus what to delegate to product teams
- • Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to contribute to and review complex, production-grade codebases
