Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Staff Software Engineer on Poshmark’s Cloud Platform team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical foundation that powers one of the largest fashion marketplaces in the world, enabling seamless, secure, and scalable experiences for 165 million users who buy, sell, and connect through fashion.
  • • Your work will directly impact platform reliability, security, and innovation — ensuring that every transaction, shipment, and content interaction is handled with integrity, performance, and trust, while advancing Poshmark’s mission to keep fashion in circulation longer through technology.
  • • You will lead the design and implementation of scalable product features across payments, commerce, and content domains, translating complex business needs into robust, maintainable systems that serve millions of daily active users.
  • • You will partner closely with platform security and content integrity teams to harden the platform against abuse, fraud, and spam — implementing anti-spam measures, user trust models, and content moderation safeguards that protect both buyers and sellers in the marketplace.
  • • You will drive the evolution of Poshmark’s infrastructure toward a modern microservices architecture, identifying technical debt and opportunities for improvement, then leading cross-functional efforts to refactor, decouple, and optimize services for greater resilience and agility.
  • • You will collaborate daily with product managers, data analysts, data scientists, and data engineers to translate product visions into technical roadmaps, ensuring feasibility, scalability, and alignment with business goals from conception through launch and post-release monitoring.
  • • You will mentor and uplift junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, continuous learning, and psychological safety within your team.
  • • You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of features — from ideation and prototyping to deployment, observability, and iteration — using data-driven insights to measure impact and inform future improvements.
  • • You will become a trusted technical authority within the Platform team, establishing deep expertise in one or more core domains (payments, commerce, content) while maintaining a holistic understanding of how these systems interconnect across the cloud platform.
  • • You will proactively surface systemic risks, performance bottlenecks, and architectural gaps — then rally product, data, and engineering stakeholders to prioritize and solve them, turning technical insight into measurable business outcomes.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5+ years of hands-on experience building and scaling production systems in high-traffic, high-availability environments
  • • Proven experience mentoring and leading other engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and team knowledge sharing
  • • Strong proficiency in Ruby and experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB), in-memory stores (Redis), and cloud platforms (AWS)
  • • Familiarity with data warehousing tools like Redshift and experience working alongside data teams to leverage analytics for product decisions
  • • Understanding of web technologies, cross-platform tracking, and user trust/modeling concepts (anti-spam, fraud detection, content integrity)
  • • Ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including product managers and data scientists

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive base salary and equity compensation package reflective of senior technical leadership
  • • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans for employees and dependents
  • • Generous paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, and company holidays
  • • 401(k) plan with employer matching to support long-term financial wellness
  • • Professional development stipend for conferences, courses, and certifications
  • • Hybrid work flexibility with access to Poshmark’s Redwood City office for collaboration and team bonding
  • • Wellness programs, including mental health resources and fitness subsidies
  • • Employee discounts on Poshmark purchases and access to exclusive community events
