📋 Description

• As a Staff Software Engineer on the Data Platform team at Luxury Presence, you will play a pivotal role in scaling the AI-powered growth platform that serves over 87,000 real estate professionals, including top-performing agents nationwide. Your work will directly impact the reliability, speed, and intelligence of property data flows that power agent websites, personalized recommendations, and internal AI agents — making you a key contributor to the company’s mission of transforming how real estate professionals grow their businesses through technology.
• You will own the end-to-end architecture of MLS and property data systems, ensuring high-quality, real-time data is available across 400+ feeds to support customer-facing features, AI-driven automation, and analytics use cases. This role sits at the critical intersection of backend engineering, data infrastructure, and AI productization, where your technical leadership will shape the scalability, observability, and innovation of the platform that underpins Luxury Presence’s Series C growth trajectory toward $100M ARR.
• Day to day, you will design and evolve event-driven, Kafka-based data pipelines for MLS ingestion, enrichment, and normalization; build and operate backend services in Python or Java that expose listing and recommendation data via robust APIs; implement scalable stream and batch processing using Spark or Flink on EMR, orchestrated via Airflow and deployed on Kubernetes; and champion observability through metrics, tracing, logging, and SLOs to ensure operational excellence.
• You will collaborate with ML/AI engineers to integrate LLM-powered agents using frameworks like PydanticAI or LangChain into data workflows — automating MLS feed onboarding, listing discrepancy triage, and other operational processes — while defining evaluation, logging, and feedback loops to continuously improve AI-driven products.
• You will partner closely with analytics engineering and data science teams to make data discoverable and usable through semantic layers, documentation, and self-service tooling, ensuring that high-quality, governed data fuels both analytics and customer-facing AI features.
• As a technical leader, you will drive design reviews, establish engineering best practices, and make informed tradeoffs around reliability, performance, and cost; mentor and unblock fellow engineers through pairing, code reviews, and design guidance; and translate ambiguous business problems into clear technical strategies and phased delivery plans in close collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Operations.
• The Data Platform Squad is a high-impact, cross-functional team of data and software engineers responsible for the entire listing pipeline — from ingestion across 400+ MLS feeds to transformation, normalization, and delivery to products and customers. 🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including owning production systems end-to-end
• Significant experience working with data-intensive or distributed systems at scale (high volume, high availability)
• Strong programming skills in Python or Java, with experience building microservices and APIs (REST/GraphQL)
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or similar event/messaging platforms (Kinesis, Pub/Sub, etc.)
• Deep experience with Spark or Flink for large-scale data processing across streaming and batch pipelines (on EMR or similar), Airflow for orchestration, and Kubernetes for running data/compute workloads
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills; solid understanding of ETL/ELT patterns, data warehousing concepts, and performance tuning
• Experience building on AWS (preferred) or another major cloud provider, with a good grasp of cost, reliability, and security tradeoffs
• Experience building or integrating AI agents into production workflows (e.g., internal tools, support automation, operational triage, or data workflows)
• Familiarity with frameworks such as PydanticAI, LangGraph, Claude Code or similar, and how they interact with backend services, vector stores, and LLM APIs
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives across teams, from idea to production (alignment, design, implementation, rollout)
• Track record of mentoring other engineers and raising the bar on code quality, testing, and design
• Strong communication skills; able to clearly explain complex technical decisions to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
