📋 Description

• As a Staff Software Engineer on the Data Warehouse engineering team, you will help build complex database systems focused on query federation capabilities within Cloudera Data Platform (CDP), enabling enterprises to transform complex data into actionable insights.
• You will design, code, and implement scalable, enterprise-quality application services, take technical leadership of a team of engineers, advocate for engineering best practices, and collaborate across platform, UI, quality, UX, product, field engineering, and external partners to enhance developer velocity and team agility.
• Cloudera empowers organizations to harness data at hyperscale, leveraging open-source innovation to drive digital transformation for the world’s largest enterprises, with a strong commitment to engineering excellence and collaboration.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed SQL query engines, database internals, and cloud-native data platforms while mentoring engineers, influencing technical direction, and contributing to open-source projects that power enterprise data workloads across public and private clouds.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field
• 8+ years of relevant industry experience designing and developing enterprise software with strong understanding of scaling and performance
• Hands-on programmer with strong data structures and algorithms skills; Java & Python experience desired
• Good understanding of database internals, query processing, and SQL query optimization
• Experience with SQL engines, ELT, or Python libraries; familiarity with Apache Hive, Impala, Calcite, or RDBMS
• Experience with Hadoop ecosystem, file formats (Parquet, ORC), and public cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure, GCP)
