- • Join Okta, The World’s Identity Company, as a Staff Software Engineer, Federal, and play a pivotal role in safeguarding our organization and customers by enhancing our security posture within the public sector.
- • This role is integral to Okta’s Defensive Cyber Engineering organization, focusing on the Security Data Platform, infrastructure, and tooling that power our Detection and Response capabilities, as well as managing enterprise security tools for XDR, DLP, and SSPM.
- • You will be instrumental in expanding our team to support Okta’s Public Sector roadmap, working collaboratively in the Washington D.C. area.
- • Your primary focus will be on building robust data and infrastructure platforms, leveraging a powerful combination of software, data, and security engineering expertise.
- • You will architect and implement scalable, resilient, and secure solutions utilizing automation, policy-as-code principles, and cutting-edge cloud-native technologies.
- • As a subject matter expert (SME), you will provide critical guidance on solution engineering and architecture reviews, with a preference for expertise in Detection and Response and/or enterprise security tooling.
- • You will lead technical initiatives to evaluate, design, and deploy new enterprise security systems and drive enhancements for existing ones.
- • A key responsibility will be to build, maintain, and continuously improve custom automation and cloud infrastructure using tools like Terraform, ensuring efficient team workflows and strict adherence to security controls.
- • You will develop sophisticated integrations with APIs, major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), and existing security infrastructure to significantly enhance our detection, response, and remediation capabilities.
- • You will be responsible for writing and maintaining scripts and automation solutions, with a strong emphasis on Python, to streamline and optimize security operations.
- • Establish comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems to track security posture, identify misconfigurations, and detect threats across endpoints, SaaS applications, and cloud workloads.
- • Proactively identify and address security gaps, staying ahead of emerging threats and continuously evaluating new solutions and tooling within the cybersecurity landscape.
- • You will contribute to the development and maintenance of ETL/ELT pipelines essential for onboarding critical security data into Okta’s security data lake.
- • Collaborate closely with security teams to integrate diverse log sources, ensuring a seamless and efficient data ingestion process.
- • Build and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant data pipelines specifically designed to process high volumes of security event data.
- • Demonstrate a proven ability to automate security controls and workflows through a cloud-first strategy.
- • Contribute to the CI/CD pipelines for security automation, ensuring robust security practices and effective drift management.
- • Engage with cross-functional teams, including Security, Business Technology Engineering, and Product teams, to ensure our core infrastructure applications effectively protect our workforce, endpoints, and corporate data.
- • Communicate effectively with technical staff, support teams, executive leadership, and external vendors, translating complex technical concepts into actionable insights.
- • For candidates with experience in highly regulated environments, you will apply your knowledge of FedRAMP High, IL4, IL5, and/or IL6 to ensure compliance and security best practices.
- • If you possess a current or previous Secret, Top Secret (TS), or Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance, you will leverage this expertise to contribute to sensitive federal projects.
- • You will also have the opportunity to work with advanced identity management technologies such as MFA, SAML, OAuth, OIDC, and WebAuthn.
- • A deep understanding of Okta's ecosystem, including advanced configuration and integrations, will be highly valuable.
- • Experience with continuous compliance solutions, including policy-as-code and automated evidence gathering, will further enhance your contribution.
- • This role requires the ability to access federal environments and/or protected federal data, necessitating U.S. Person status upon hire.
