- • As a Staff Software Engineer in the Trade Finance squad within the Commodities, Trade & Carbon crew at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, you will act as a technical leader driving the evolution of complex, distributed systems that power secure, resilient, and customer-focused digital platforms for trade and supply-chain finance customers.
- • Day to day, you will balance hands-on engineering with design leadership—owning system architecture, guiding technical decisions, mentoring engineers, creating shared libraries and frameworks, improving developer experience through tooling and automation, and influencing engineering standards across the crew by partnering with Product, Architecture, Security, Platform, Risk, and Operations teams.
- • You’ll be part of an engineering transformation initiative at one of Australia’s largest banks, working in a collaborative, high-impact team at the intersection of customer experience, banking platforms, risk, and regulatory controls, where your work directly contributes to building the bank of tomorrow through innovation in scalable, resilient technology.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed systems and cloud-native architecture, grow as a technical leader through mentoring and influence, shape engineering excellence practices, and gain exposure to cutting-edge tools and practices in a regulated financial services environment—positioning you for continued growth as a senior technical leader.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong track record of technical leadership in complex software systems
- • Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and designing high-quality RESTful APIs
- • Proven experience designing and operating cloud-native architectures on AWS (e.g., S3, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch)
- • Experience with modern frontend or service runtimes such as React/Angular, Node.js, TypeScript, Express/Fastify, or NestJS
- • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments
- • Solid understanding of authentication and authorization patterns (OAuth2, JWT) and secure API design
