Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Design, build, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks for AI kernel validation across simulation, emulation, and silicon targets.
  • • Develop correctness and performance regression suites for ML operators including GEMMs, convolutions, BLAS, SIMD operations, softmax, layer normalization, and pooling.
  • • Implement automated testing pipelines integrated into CI/CD workflows to provide rapid feedback on kernel changes.
  • • Build tooling to automate comparison of kernel outputs against reference implementations such as CPU-based golden references, PyTorch, and TensorFlow baselines.
  • • Validate numerical precision, edge cases, and boundary conditions for ML kernels across data types and hardware configurations on AI accelerators, DSPs, FPGAs, and SIMD vector processors.
  • • Partner with hardware teams (mixed signal, DSP, CPU) to validate hardware-software co-design assumptions and identify integration issues early in development.
  • • Drive validation of compiler-generated code paths from MLIR, LLVM, and TVM through structured test methodologies.
  • • Serve as the primary liaison between the Kernels engineering team and the broader QA organization, aligning on test strategy, coverage criteria, and release readiness.
  • • Participate in QA planning ceremonies to represent Kernels team needs and surface quality risks proactively.
  • • Contribute to and maintain shared QA infrastructure, test standards, and reporting dashboards used across engineering teams.
  • • Lead root cause analysis for test failures and escaped defects, collaborating with Kernels engineers to close validation gaps.
  • • Set quality standards and best practices for the Kernels team, mentoring engineers on testability design and defensive coding.
  • • Contribute to design reviews with a quality lens, identifying areas requiring additional validation before tape-out or release.
  • • Influence test strategy across the full software stack—from unit and integration tests to system-level validation on target AI hardware.
  • • Own quality outcomes by defining test coverage, release qualification criteria, and validation strategy—not just executing tests.
  • • Work embedded within the Kernels team alongside compiler engineers, ML software engineers, and hardware architects in a hybrid environment (3–5 days/week onsite at Santa Clara, CA headquarters).
  • • Collaborate cross-functionally with QA leads to align on company-wide test standards and share best practices.

🎯 Requirements

  • • BSc in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related field with 6+ years of industry experience; or MS with 4+ years; or PhD with 2+ years, with at least 2 years in test engineering, SDET, or quality engineering roles.
  • • Strong understanding of computer architecture, data structures, and machine learning fundamentals to reason about correctness and performance of ML kernels.
  • • Proficient in C/C++ and Python with experience writing production-quality test code in Linux environments.
  • • Experience writing automated tests for algorithms targeting specialized hardware such as GPUs, DSPs, FPGAs, or AI accelerators (e.g., using CUDA or equivalent).
  • • Familiarity with ML operators used in production workloads: GEMMs, convolutions, BLAS, SIMD operations, softmax, layer normalization, pooling.
  • • Experience building or working within CI/CD pipelines and automated regression systems.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Opportunity to build quality infrastructure from the ground up as the first Staff SDET on the Kernels team.
  • • Direct impact on the correctness and quality of AI compute software shipping in next-generation hardware products.
  • • Work alongside top compiler and kernel engineers at the intersection of hardware and software innovation.
  • • Hybrid work model with 3–5 days/week onsite at Santa Clara, CA headquarters.
  • • Inclusive, collaborative culture emphasizing humility, direct communication, and team learning.
  • • Equal opportunity workplace with commitment to diversity and inclusion across all dimensions.
