📋 Description

• As a Staff Software Engineer on the Organizations team at Okta, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of identity management for B2B SaaS applications. This is an opportunity to contribute to a globally recognized platform, Auth0, which handles over 100 million daily logins, by enhancing its capabilities for managing customer and partner access at scale.
• Your primary responsibility will be to drive the architectural vision and strategy for the Organizations team. This involves designing and delivering robust, new enterprise-grade functionality that empowers our SaaS customers. You will be instrumental in evolving both the core login experience and Auth0's direct and self-service management features, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and user-friendly.
• You will be a key player in identifying and implementing strategic technical improvements across the codebase and architecture. This includes leading and orchestrating significant technical projects, often requiring collaboration across multiple engineering teams, to ensure successful and timely delivery of complex features.
• A crucial aspect of this role is mentorship and technical leadership. You will be expected to mentor and coach less experienced engineers, fostering their growth in sound engineering practices and technical leadership. You will serve as a subject matter expert, guiding the team on building scalable, reliable, and maintainable distributed systems, sharing your deep knowledge and experience.
• Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You will work closely with your engineering team, the Product Manager, and the Product Designer to define the user experience, functionality, and overall look and feel of new features. This includes actively reviewing customer feedback to ensure our solutions meet evolving market needs and user expectations.
• The team utilizes NodeJS (JavaScript and TypeScript) for its backend services, with PostgreSQL serving as the primary data store. The services are deployed on AWS and Azure, leveraging containerization extensively for both development and production environments. Your contributions will directly impact the performance, reliability, and scalability of these critical systems.
• You will be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, from conception and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. This includes writing high-quality, maintainable code, participating in code reviews, and contributing to architectural discussions.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience in designing, implementing, and evolving complex distributed systems, with strong architectural and security knowledge.
• Solid previous experience with Node.js (JavaScript or TypeScript) for building scalable backend services and creating/maintaining public and internal APIs.
• Experience with SQL databases, including debugging and optimizing table and query structures for performance under load.
• Experience with Docker and cloud environments (AWS and Azure preferred), with bonus points for Kubernetes experience.
• Strong mentoring and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts simply and bring teams along for the journey.
• Experience operating services at scale with appropriate observability tools and mechanisms.
