- • As a Staff Software Engineer on the Platform Streaming team at Okta, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our event streaming and data pipeline infrastructure. This is a high-impact role where you will contribute to foundational systems that enable Auth0 to scale effectively for years to come, supporting critical event streaming, messaging, and analytics use cases across the organization.
- • You will play a pivotal role in defining the technical direction for the team, influencing the engineering roadmap for the Platform's streaming capabilities. This involves strategic thinking about how our systems will evolve to meet future demands and drive innovation.
- • Your responsibilities will include the design and leadership of the implementation of our most complex and critical systems, particularly those handling data-intensive workloads. This requires a deep understanding of distributed systems and a proven ability to build robust, scalable solutions.
- • You will be expected to research and champion new technologies and architectural patterns that can address strategic challenges and enhance the scalability and efficiency of our platform. This includes staying abreast of industry trends and evaluating their potential application within Okta.
- • Leading and influencing cross-functional initiatives will be a key aspect of this role. You will ensure technical alignment and facilitate successful execution across multiple engineering teams, fostering collaboration and shared understanding.
- • A significant part of your contribution will be to improve the operational posture of our systems. This involves designing for enhanced observability, reliability, and scalability, and actively mentoring other engineers in adopting and implementing best practices for operational excellence.
- • As a Staff Engineer, you will act as a technical leader and mentor for senior engineers within the team and across the broader engineering organization. This includes guiding technical decisions, fostering a culture of learning, and elevating the overall technical expertise.
- • You will be involved in building and maintaining highly scalable, event-driven systems that are central to Auth0's operations. This requires a strong grasp of asynchronous processing, message queues, and distributed data management.
- • A solid understanding of database fundamentals is essential, coupled with practical experience in event streaming technologies like Kafka. You will leverage this knowledge to design and optimize data flows and storage solutions.
- • The role demands a passion for building systems that are not only performant but also highly reliable, maintainable, and secure. You will be a champion for quality and best practices in all aspects of software development.
- • You will contribute to the development of robust data pipelines that process and deliver event data efficiently, enabling real-time analytics and informed decision-making across the company.
- • Collaborating with product managers and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions will be a regular part of your work.
- • You will be involved in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical design sessions, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to high engineering standards.
- • The opportunity exists to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to a platform that is at the forefront of identity management, serving millions of users worldwide.
- • You will help ensure that our streaming infrastructure is resilient and can withstand failures, implementing strategies for fault tolerance and disaster recovery.
- • Your work will directly impact the performance, reliability, and scalability of Auth0's core services, making this a highly visible and critical role within the company.
- • You will be a key contributor to the continuous improvement of our development processes, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment strategies.
- • The role offers a unique chance to influence the technical direction of a rapidly growing and innovative company in the identity and access management space.
- • You will be part of a team that values collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to delivering high-quality software solutions.
- • You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse and talented group of engineers, learning from and contributing to a strong engineering culture.
- • The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, identifying potential issues before they impact users and implementing preventative measures.
- • You will contribute to the long-term vision and strategy for the Platform Streaming team, ensuring our infrastructure remains competitive and effective.
- • This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment and is passionate about building scalable, distributed systems that power critical business functions.
