- • Lead the design and implementation of Trust & Safety engineering systems to protect Rula’s mental healthcare ecosystem from fraud, billing anomalies, and credential abuse.
- • Establish and scale a new Trust & Safety Engineering team from the ground up, defining processes, standards, and technical direction.
- • Architect and build full-stack, database-backed web applications using SQL/NoSQL technologies to enforce Trust & Safety policies across internal and external user workflows.
- • Develop and integrate microservices to support scalable, reliable detection and mitigation of trust-related threats in real-time.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, compliance, and operations to translate non-technical policy requirements into technical solutions.
- • Mentor senior engineers, conduct architecture reviews, and establish consistent design patterns across the engineering organization.
- • Drive the full development lifecycle—from planning and specification to execution, launch, and post-launch maintenance of critical Trust & Safety systems.
- • Implement custom tools and leverage industry-leading platforms to investigate, audit, and enforce compliance with regulatory and operational Trust & Safety standards.
- • Ensure systems are built for sustainability, accuracy, and resilience under high-reliability demands inherent in mental healthcare services.
- • Participate in on-call rotations to deeply investigate and resolve complex operational issues independently and promptly.
- • Contribute to the evolution of Rula’s digital infrastructure by integrating modern technologies such as Node.js, TypeScript, and Kafka for event-driven workflows.
- • Maintain alignment with company values by ensuring all Trust & Safety systems uphold patient privacy, provider integrity, and payer trust.
- • Serve as the primary technical owner for Trust & Safety initiatives within the Provider organization, acting as the bridge between engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
- • Continuously measure the effectiveness of implemented systems and iterate based on data-driven insights to improve detection rates and reduce false positives.
- • Support the company’s remote-first culture by enabling secure, scalable, and compliant digital workflows for a distributed workforce across the U.S.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of software engineering experience
- • 1+ years working on Trust & Safety systems
- • 1+ years helping to form a new engineering team from scratch
- • Fullstack experience building modern database-backed (SQL/NoSQL) web applications
- • Experience with microservice development
- • Experience mentoring engineers, reviewing architectures, and establishing design patterns
