📋 Description

• As a Staff Solutions Engineer at Kong Inc., you will serve as a critical technical bridge between the company’s cutting-edge API and AI connectivity platform and enterprise customers, directly enabling business growth by helping organizations understand, evaluate, and adopt Kong Konnect to power their digital transformation initiatives in the agentic era.
• Your role is pivotal in driving customer success and revenue growth by translating complex technical capabilities into clear business value, ensuring seamless technical validation throughout the sales cycle, and fostering long-term trusted relationships that lead to expanded adoption and customer advocacy.
• Day to day, you will partner closely with field sales teams to support customer engagements, including leading technical discovery sessions, designing and executing proof-of-concept (PoC) implementations tailored to specific use cases, and delivering compelling presentations that demonstrate how Kong’s platform addresses challenges in API management, security, observability, and AI model integration.
• You will act as the primary technical advisor throughout the entire sales lifecycle — from initial product evaluation and solution architecture discussions to production deployment planning — ensuring alignment between customer needs and Kong’s capabilities while maintaining a relentless focus on customer satisfaction and success.
• A key responsibility involves coordinating cross-functionally with product, engineering, and support teams to relay customer feedback, influence product roadmap priorities, and resolve technical escalations swiftly, ensuring that field insights directly contribute to product improvement and market responsiveness.
• You will create and maintain high-quality technical assets such as implementation guides, architecture diagrams, integration playbooks, and best practice documentation for DevOps teams and professional services engagements, enabling faster customer onboarding and self-service adoption.
• Additionally, you will contribute to top-of-funnel marketing efforts by authoring technical blogs, co-hosting webinars, speaking at industry events and trade shows, and representing Kong at field activities to generate awareness and thought leadership in the API and AI connectivity space.
• You will stay current with emerging trends in cloud-native technologies, microservices, AI/LLM integration, and API governance, continuously expanding your expertise to advise customers on future-proof architectures and innovative use cases.
• Through this role, you will develop deep mastery of enterprise API strategy, cloud infrastructure patterns, and AI-driven connectivity solutions, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor capable of influencing multi-million-dollar decisions and shaping the adoption of next-generation digital platforms.
• You will gain exposure to global Fortune 500 customers and high-growth startups across diverse industries, refining your ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both engineering leaders and C-suite executives while building a powerful professional network in the technology sector.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a software engineer, sales engineer, or solutions architect in SaaS, open source, or enterprise software environments, with proven success in technical customer-facing roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with cloud-native platforms including Docker, Kubernetes, and related orchestration and observability tools.
• Demonstrated expertise in APIs, REST/GraphQL, CI/CD automation frameworks, and emerging AI/LLM technologies, including practical understanding of how they integrate into modern enterprise architectures.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions with product managers, engineers, and executives, translating complex concepts into clear business narratives.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent customer engagements, prioritize effectively, and drive outcomes in fast-paced, high-pressure startup or scale-up environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
