  • • At Monzo Bank, we are on a mission to revolutionize the financial landscape, making money work seamlessly for everyone. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Technical Program Manager to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our platform. This is a unique opportunity to lead critical initiatives that form the bedrock of all our technological advancements, driving significant impact across the organisation.
  • • In this high-impact role, you will be instrumental in guiding two key strategic portfolios: the evolution of our Data Platform and the enhancement of our Platform resiliency programme. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring our infrastructure is robust, scalable, and capable of supporting Monzo's ambitious growth and innovation objectives. This position demands a blend of deep technical acumen and exceptional cross-functional leadership, enabling you to orchestrate complex, horizontal projects that span multiple engineering collectives and business units.
  • • You will be responsible for the end-to-end planning and meticulous execution of major platform programs. This involves defining clear program roadmaps, establishing achievable milestones, and setting rigorous priorities. A key aspect of your role will be to expertly manage trade-offs, identify and mitigate critical path risks, and ensure unwavering alignment with both overarching business goals and our long-term technical strategy. Your ability to navigate intricate dependencies, manage timelines effectively, and sequence work across numerous Platform squads and Monzo Collectives will be paramount to success.
  • • A core tenet of this role is to balance profound technical depth with a comprehensive understanding of program breadth. You will need to engage with and understand the nuances of data infrastructure challenges as well as the complexities inherent in distributed systems. This holistic perspective will enable you to anticipate potential issues and devise effective solutions.
  • • You will be a key driver of effective decision-making processes, working proactively to remove impediments and maintain consistent momentum across long-running, critical infrastructure programmes. Your leadership will ensure that projects stay on track and deliver their intended value, even in the face of complex technical hurdles.
  • • Furthermore, you will play a significant role in shaping our operational effectiveness and fostering a strong engineering culture. This includes championing best practices in reliability, ensuring readiness for incident management, and upholding stringent data governance standards. Your influence will contribute to a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within our engineering teams.
  • • This role offers the chance to work on foundational elements of a rapidly growing fintech, directly influencing the stability, scalability, and data capabilities that power Monzo's award-winning customer experience. You will collaborate with talented engineers, product managers, and leaders across the organisation, contributing to a product that is genuinely changing the way people manage their money.
  • • The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of successfully managing complex technology programs from their initial conception through to successful launch. You will be adept at communicating complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively to a wide array of stakeholders, including engineers, product teams, and senior executives, effectively translating intricate technical details into tangible business impact.
  • • Your ability to coordinate intricate workstreams across multiple teams, manage dependencies within complex technical programmes, and understand the interplay of culture, tooling, and technical changes will be essential. You will build trust and exert influence without direct authority, fostering collaborative environments and constructively challenging technical approaches to ensure the best outcomes.
  • • A comfort level with diving deep into data, metrics, and technical documentation to make well-informed decisions in ambiguous situations is crucial. You will also have demonstrable experience in driving both technical delivery and significant organisational change, particularly in areas such as infrastructure development, system resilience, or data governance, making a tangible difference to how Monzo operates and scales.
  • • This role is based in London or can be remote within the UK, offering competitive base salary and stock options, along with a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and professional growth.
