Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the research strategy for a high-impact strategic vertical at Articulate, translating complex, ambiguous business problems into clear, testable research questions that directly influence product vision and revenue growth.
- • Lead foundational and generative studies—interviews, ethnography, surveys, diary studies, competitive benchmarking, and mixed-method triangulation—to uncover unmet customer needs and inform early-stage bets before a single line of code is written.
- • Drive clarity in high-stakes product decisions by synthesizing qualitative insights with quantitative data from analytics, support tickets, and data-science models, producing actionable narratives that executives, PMs, designers, and engineers trust and act upon.
- • Build and socialize long-range research roadmaps that anticipate market shifts, evolving business models, and competitive pressures, ensuring the product organization is always two steps ahead of customer expectations.
- • Operationalize research excellence by creating scalable frameworks, journey maps, templates, and repeatable mechanisms that raise team throughput, reduce decision latency, and embed human-centered thinking into daily agile rituals.
- • Act as a force-multiplier across the product lifecycle: coach tripods (Product, Design, Engineering) to ask better questions, run lightweight evaluative tests, and integrate evidence into discovery, delivery, and iteration loops.
- • Mentor junior and mid-level researchers through structured feedback, pair-research sessions, and strategic guidance, while also up-leveling non-researchers to conduct their own scrappy studies safely and ethically.
- • Champion inclusive research practices—recruiting diverse participants, mitigating bias, and ensuring accessibility—so that every insight reflects the full spectrum of Articulate’s 118,000+ global customers.
- • Facilitate cross-functional workshops, co-creation sessions, and insight playback meetings that turn raw findings into shared mental models, prioritized opportunity backlogs, and crisp go/no-go decisions.
- • Partner with Data Science, Support, Sales, and Customer Success to stitch together a 360° view of the user experience, closing the loop between what customers say, what they do, and what the business needs.
- • Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and culture-building within the Research org, refining our tooling stack (UserTesting, User Interviews, Maze, Qualtrics, Looker) and codifying best practices that scale as the company grows.
- • Represent Articulate externally—speaking at conferences, publishing case studies, and engaging with the broader UX research community—to keep our methods cutting-edge and our employer brand magnetic.
- • Measure and communicate the business impact of research through OKRs that tie insight work to product-market fit improvements, user-satisfaction gains, and revenue acceleration.
- • Navigate systemic constraints—engineering capacity, resource limitations, shifting OKRs—by proactively re-scoping studies, sequencing research activities, and negotiating trade-offs without compromising rigor or ethics.
🎯 Requirements
- • 12+ years of UX research experience in complex SaaS or tech product environments, with a portfolio that demonstrates strategic influence on product vision and measurable business outcomes.
- • Expert command of qualitative and quantitative research methods—interviews, ethnography, surveys, A/B testing, usage analytics, statistical analysis—and proven ability to select and blend them appropriately.
- • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HCI, Psychology, Human Factors, Sociology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- • Demonstrated success mentoring researchers or building research functions that scale across multiple product teams.
- • Exceptional storytelling and communication skills: you can distill complexity, craft persuasive narratives, and confidently advocate for users in executive-level forums.
- • Deep familiarity with research and analytics tools such as UserTesting, User Interviews, Maze, Qualtrics, Looker, or comparable platforms.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive base salary range of $163,900–$245,900 plus annual bonus eligibility, reviewed regularly to reflect growth and impact.
- • Fully remote role—work from anywhere in the United States—with flexible hours and a stipend to outfit your home office.
- • Robust benefits suite including 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision for employees and dependents, 401(k) with match, generous PTO, and paid parental leave.
- • Annual professional-development budget for conferences, courses, and certifications, plus paid volunteer days to support causes you care about.
