- • As a State Government Affairs Lead for the Northeast Region at OpenAI, you will lead engagement with state and local governments across New York, Pennsylvania, and other key states to advance the company’s policy goals and mission of ensuring AI benefits all of humanity.
- • You will develop and maintain relationships with elected officials, agency leaders, local government representatives, and other stakeholders, serving as OpenAI’s primary policy representative in the region while shaping strategic initiatives, preparing leaders for government engagements, and representing the organization in public and private forums.
- • You will collaborate with civil society and industry partners, advise internal teams on state-level opportunities and risks, and drive strategic advocacy, regulatory engagement, and stakeholder coordination with a focus on building durable relationships and executing thoughtful engagement strategies.
- • Reporting to the Head of U.S. State Policy and Partnerships, you will work on cutting-edge AI policy challenges, contribute to regulation and industry standards, and help align internal teams with external policy developments in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment.
🎯 Requirements
- • Demonstrated experience advocating at the state government level, particularly in technology policy or AI-related legislative and regulatory issues.
- • Proven ability to build and manage coalitions, lead cross-functional campaigns, and collaborate effectively with internal teams (including engineering and research) and external stakeholders.
- • Strong organizational, project management, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to execute in fast-paced, flexible environments through rapid analysis and decision-making.
- • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex technical and policy concepts to diverse audiences, including government officials and internal teams.
- • Deep familiarity with state and local government processes, especially those impacting AI, energy, infrastructure, and emerging technologies.
