- ⢠This role serves as the strategic right hand to Illuminaās Chief Medical Officer, bridging high-impact communications and operational excellence to advance the companyās mission of expanding genomic technology for global health equity. By ensuring the CMOās voice is clear, consistent, and influential across internal and external audiences, the position directly supports Illuminaās vision of transforming human health through early disease detection and innovative treatments.
- ⢠The person will split their time equally between strategic communications and business operations, acting as a trusted advisor and executor who enables the CMO to focus on scientific leadership while managing the complexity of stakeholder engagement, messaging, and organizational alignment.
- ⢠Day to day, the individual will serve as the primary liaison between the CMO and the Communications Team, overseeing the CMOās social media presence and partnering on content planning and publication for maximum reach and impact.
- ⢠They will lead the development and execution of the CMOās āWay Cool Genomicsā video series and related multimedia initiatives, translating complex genomic science into engaging, accessible stories for diverse audiences.
- ⢠The role involves drafting, editing, and coordinating internal and external communications on behalf of the CMO ā including news pieces, event invitations, and executive correspondence ā ensuring all messaging is accurate, timely, and aligned with organizational priorities.
- ⢠They will utilize technology platforms and data-driven tools to modernize communication strategies, leveraging analytics to refine messaging and ensure consistency across channels.
- ⢠On the operations side, the person will work closely with the CMOās Executive Assistant and staff to optimize the CMOās effectiveness, managing calendars, priorities, and workflows to reduce administrative burden.
- ⢠They will cultivate and manage the CMOās strategic relationships across Illumina and with external stakeholders, serving as a key liaison to facilitate alignment and collaboration.
- ⢠The role includes leading the planning, coordination, and execution of high-visibility initiatives such as working groups, workshops, meetings, and conferences ā ensuring seamless logistics and strategic outcomes.
- ⢠On behalf of the CMO, they will collaborate across scientific, administrative, and external ecosystems to achieve objectives, allocate resources, meet deadlines, and resolve challenges with sound judgment.
- ⢠The individual will prepare executive briefings and correspondence, support domestic and international engagements, and keep the CMO informed of progress, risks, and outcomes to ensure ongoing alignment with organizational goals.
- ⢠They will continuously expand their subject matter expertise in emerging areas of genomics and healthcare to anticipate evolving needs and apply analytical, innovative approaches to improve efficiency.

šÆ Requirements
- ⢠Bachelorās degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, Life Sciences, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- ⢠Proven experience in strategic communications, executive support, or business operations ā preferably in healthcare, biotechnology, or life sciences.
- ⢠Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences.
- ⢠Experience managing social media platforms and multimedia content (e.g., video series) for executive or organizational audiences.
- ⢠Strong project management and organizational skills, with ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage competing priorities.
- ⢠Proficiency with communication and productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, social media management platforms, data analytics tools).
