- • As a Strategic Finance partner for OpenAI’s Ads business, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy and investment decisions that drive the growth and scalability of one of the company’s most innovative product lines, directly influencing how AI-powered advertising solutions are brought to market and monetized sustainably.
- • You will partner closely with Ads Product, GTM, Engineering, and leadership teams to build the financial infrastructure necessary to scale the Ads business, from forecasting and performance measurement to economic modeling for new initiatives, ensuring that financial rigor supports both short-term execution and long-term strategic vision.
- • The Strategic Finance team at OpenAI operates at the intersection of strategy, finance, and technology, providing critical insights that guide resource allocation across Product, Partnerships, Engineering, and GTM to maximize impact while preserving sustainable unit economics in a high-growth, mission-driven environment.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will include serving as the primary Strategic Finance thought partner to Ads teams, supporting financial evaluation through revenue and compute modeling, establishing core metrics, identifying leading indicators, tracking variances, and surfacing risks and opportunities to inform decision-making.
- • You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, and GTM leaders on strategic initiatives and new product launches, helping shape growth plans by translating financial data into actionable insights that balance innovation with fiscal discipline.
- • You will build and scale financial planning rigor by refining forecasting methodologies, enhancing management reporting, and developing performance narratives that improve decision velocity, accountability, and transparency across the Ads organization.
- • You will stay current on market trends and competitive dynamics in digital advertising to refine financial strategies, ensuring OpenAI’s Ads offerings remain economically viable and differentiated in a rapidly evolving landscape.
- • You will prepare and deliver high-quality executive and Board materials that communicate business performance, key drivers, variances, and strategic recommendations with clarity and precision, enabling informed leadership at the highest levels.

🎯 Requirements
- • 12+ years of experience in investment banking, consulting, or buy-side investing, combined with operating experience at a fast-paced, scaling technology company.
- • 2+ years in Ads Finance with direct Ads P&L ownership and experience supporting growth across multiple ad formats, verticals, and international markets.
- • Exceptional analytical and financial modeling skills, including proficiency in building detailed operating models and product P&Ls to evaluate investment decisions and growth opportunities.
- • Strong business judgment and the ability to critically assess financial performance, opportunities, and risks in complex, ambiguous environments.
- • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for senior leadership and Board audiences.
- • High attention to detail, commitment to accuracy, and familiarity with digital advertising business models and SQL for data analysis.
