- • The Strategic Finance, B2B Strategy & Planning Lead is a senior leadership role responsible for building and scaling financial infrastructure for OpenAI’s B2B business, ensuring financial rigor and strategic alignment with company goals.
- • Day to day, the role involves driving B2B finance scale through forecasting, variance management, and performance narratives; leading consolidated planning for revenue, gross margin, and opex; establishing durable management reporting with KPIs and dashboards; and partnering with Corporate FP&A, Accounting, and Finance Systems to evolve processes toward public-company standards.
- • The role also includes serving as a strategic partner to B2B leadership by leading forecasting and business reviews, managing financial performance and unit economics of B2B products, and collaborating with Compute and Engineering on margin optimization and trade-off analysis.
- • Additionally, the role supports high-stakes strategic initiatives from 0→1, translating complex problems into executive narratives, and transitioning initiatives to long-term owners as they scale.
- • The person in this role will achieve impact by shaping financial foundations for high-growth B2B products, influencing executive decision-making with Board-ready insights, and building scalable finance processes in a fast-moving AI company.
- • They will develop deep expertise in AI-driven business models, advanced financial modeling, and cross-functional leadership while working closely with the COO, CFO, and CRO.

🎯 Requirements
- • 12+ years of progressive experience in Strategic Finance, Product Finance, Corporate FP&A, Corporate Development, Investment Banking/PE/VC, or Management Consulting, with meaningful operating experience in a fast-scaling technology company.
- • Deep familiarity with B2B subscription and consumption/usage-based business models and the ability to reason fluently about unit economics and margin drivers, including compute-driven COGS.
- • Expert modeling and analytical skills, including multi-scenario P&L and cash flow modeling, sensitivity analysis, and strong financial judgment.
- • Strong ability to critically evaluate opportunities and risks in financials, with attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis.
- • Demonstrated ability to bring structure to ambiguity, lead senior stakeholders through trade-offs, and drive crisp decisions in high-uncertainty environments.
- • Exceptional communication and executive presence, with skill in building Board/exec-ready narratives from complex, cross-functional inputs.
- • A "roll up your sleeves" mindset, high ownership, and deep curiosity about AI and its impact on enterprises, industries, and institutions.
- • Experience with SQL or a willingness to learn.
