- • The Strategic Partnerships Relationship Manager at Velera manages and governs business and contractual relationships with the company’s largest card issuer processing and payment network partners, playing a critical role in aligning partner strategy with Velera’s goals and priorities.
- • Day to day, the role involves directing and managing partner relationships, collaborating across internal teams to optimize partner engagement, reviewing and reporting on partner performance against SLAs, negotiating contracts to maximize value, serving as the point of contact for financial requests outside established contracts, working with internal and partner executives to resolve issues, monitoring multi-million-dollar partner expenses for compliance, identifying internal gaps affecting partner performance, and providing ongoing education to partner support teams on Velera’s mission and objectives.

- • In this role, the individual can learn and achieve deep expertise in card issuing ecosystems, develop advanced negotiation and strategic partnership skills, influence enterprise-wide process improvements, gain exposure to executive-level stakeholder management, and contribute directly to Velera’s growth by positioning the company as a partner of choice through strategic planning and joint business planning initiatives.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s Degree Required in Business or related field, MBA Preferred, or combination of education and experience required.
- • Ten (10) years of experience in business development, product management, partner management, or strategic account management within the card issuing ecosystem.
- • Ten (10) years of experience negotiating complex commercial agreements, including processor services agreements, network incentive agreements, pricing schedules, and SLAs.
- • Demonstrated ability to lead negotiations as an individual contributor, including the ability to coordinate with internal legal, finance, product and procurement teams.
- • Deep understanding of issuer processing platforms, card networks, and the associated services provided to financial institutions.
- • Experience creating and executing joint business plans, performance reviews and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
