📋 Description
- • The Student Assistant 2 - SENR role supports the School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) within the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (FAES) at The Ohio State University by contributing to the development of an embedded food systems ethics curriculum for existing nutrition coursework. This position plays a meaningful role in advancing interdisciplinary education that connects nutrition, sustainability, and ethical food systems, aligning with OSU’s mission of fostering innovation and societal impact through academic excellence.
- • The person will engage in data collection and analysis, review existing curricula from peer institutions and disciplines, recommend new instructional modules, develop detailed outlines for course integration, and collaborate with a faculty committee from Ohio State and Central State Universities to co-create educational content. Weekly check-ins with faculty ensure alignment, progress tracking, and iterative improvement of the curriculum.
- • The role is part of a dedicated academic team within SENR focused on advancing environmental and natural resource education through innovative, student-centered initiatives. - • The student will gain hands-on experience in curriculum design, educational research, and cross-institutional collaboration while deepening their understanding of food systems, agroecosystems, and ethical considerations in nutrition education. - • Responsibilities include conducting thorough reviews of current nutrition and sustainability curricula across institutions to identify gaps and opportunities for embedding food systems ethics.
- • The student will analyze existing course materials and recommend specific, evidence-based modules that align with learning objectives in nutrition science and sustainability studies.
- • Developing detailed outlines for new course modules, including learning goals, suggested activities, assessment ideas, and integration strategies for seamless adoption into current coursework.
- • Collaborating regularly with a faculty committee from Ohio State and Central State University through weekly meetings to present findings, receive feedback, and refine module proposals.
- • Maintaining organized records of research, drafts, and feedback to ensure transparency and continuity throughout the curriculum development process.
- • Representing SENR and the university professionally in all academic interactions, upholding the highest standards of integrity, inclusivity, and commitment to OSU’s mission and shared values.
🎯 Requirements
- • Current enrollment as a student at The Ohio State University (undergraduate or graduate)
- • Prior coursework or experience in nutrition, food systems, sustainability, or related disciplines
- • Demonstrated ability to collect, organize, and analyze educational or curriculum-related data
- • Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with faculty and presenting ideas
- • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail in managing multiple tasks and deadlines
- • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment with minimal supervision
