Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Join Miaplaza Inc. as a Student Support Specialist for MiaPrep Online High School (MOHS), a rapidly growing institution dedicated to providing an accessible and inclusive homeschool curriculum. As a fully remote, student and family-facing role, you will be instrumental in fostering a supportive learning environment for students in grades 7-12. This position is crucial for shaping the community and ensuring the success of our students, parents, teachers, and staff.
- • In this role, you will manage a structured caseload of students requiring short-term (up to 12-week) intensive academic intervention. Your primary focus will be on designing and implementing measurable intervention plans with clear, achievable goals and robust progress monitoring systems. You will proactively address challenges such as academic stagnation, executive functioning breakdowns, difficulties with checkpoints, attendance concerns, and situations that risk policy violations, ensuring students receive the targeted support they need to thrive.
- • A significant aspect of your role involves direct student and family engagement. You will facilitate regular one-on-one and small group intervention sessions, acting as a coach and partner. This collaboration with students and families will focus on developing actionable strategies for improvement. You will coach students in essential areas like executive functioning, academic skill-building, and self-management, all while maintaining a professional standard of accountability and support.
- • Data monitoring and meticulous documentation are core components of this position. You will be responsible for analyzing student performance data, including grades, pacing, checkpoint completion, attendance records, and prior intervention history, to inform your decision-making and intervention strategies. Maintaining thorough, objective documentation of all plans, meetings, progress, and outcomes is essential for tracking student development and ensuring continuity of care. You will also provide regular, data-informed updates to Academic Counselors and Advisors, keeping them informed of student progress and any emerging concerns.
- • Collaboration and effective escalation are key to success. You will receive and respond to referrals from Advisors and Academic Counselors, working closely with them to align intervention efforts across the team. It is vital to apply MOHS policies consistently and provide documented progress summaries to Academic Counselors when students do not show improvement. You will also be trained to follow Crisis Response procedures and escalate safety concerns promptly and appropriately, ensuring the well-being of all students.
- • Beyond direct student support, you will contribute to the ongoing growth and refinement of our intervention programs. This includes participating in the development of new intervention strategies and contributing to policy improvements. You will engage in continuous professional development, staying current with best practices in online education, intervention strategies, and neurodiversity-affirming approaches. During high-volume periods, you will support team needs and consistently model the core values of MOHS in all your interactions and work.
- • The schedule requires 40 hours of availability each week on a year-round basis. A critical requirement is availability during school hours, Monday through Friday, between 8 am and 4 pm in any U.S. timezone (ET, CT, MT, or PT). While not every hour within this window requires direct student interaction, approximately 30-35 hours per week will fall within this period to accommodate student meetings and team collaboration. An additional 5 hours per week may be scheduled outside this window for essential planning, documentation, and professional development activities, offering some flexibility.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on the academic and personal growth of students in a dynamic online learning environment. You will be part of a growing organization with a clear vision for the future of online education and a commitment to student success. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of providing a high-quality, supportive, and effective homeschool curriculum that empowers students to achieve their full potential. By building strong relationships, implementing evidence-based interventions, and fostering a sense of community, you will play a vital role in the success of MiaPrep Online High School and its students.
- • As a Student Support Specialist, you will be empowered to take initiative, develop creative solutions, and contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture. Your dedication to student well-being and academic achievement will be highly valued and recognized. This position is ideal for an individual who is passionate about education, skilled in intervention and coaching, and thrives in a remote, mission-driven environment. You will have the opportunity to grow professionally and contribute to the expansion of an innovative online high school.
