📋 Description

• Own the end-to-end sustenance of the Avalanche Cloud Data Warehouse, ensuring 24×7 reliability, performance, and continuous evolution of a mission-critical, petabyte-scale analytics platform trusted by Fortune 500 customers.
• Diagnose and resolve complex defects across a distributed, microservices-based architecture spanning AWS, Azure, and GCP; reproduce customer issues in-house, craft minimal failing test cases, and deliver surgical fixes that maintain backward compatibility and zero-downtime SLAs.
• Design, code, and unit-test new product capabilities in Node.js, Scala, or Java, following rigorous engineering standards; produce clean, idiomatic code that passes peer review, static analysis, and 90%+ unit-test coverage while adhering to secure-coding guidelines (OWASP, CIS).
• Optimize query execution engines and storage layers to eliminate performance regressions; profile CPU, memory, and I/O under multi-tenant workloads, tune JVM/Node runtimes, and introduce caching, indexing, or partitioning strategies that cut latency by double-digit percentages.
• Build and maintain Kubernetes-based deployment artifacts (Helm charts, operators, CRDs) to enable blue-green and canary releases; automate rollbacks, health checks, and autoscaling policies that keep P99 latency within contractual thresholds even during traffic spikes.
• Author and maintain technical design documents, API contracts, run-books, and knowledge-base articles that empower Support, QA, and Field teams to resolve issues autonomously and accelerate customer onboarding.
• Partner with Product Management to translate high-level roadmap items into detailed engineering tasks; provide accurate LOE estimates, risk assessments, and dependency mapping that feed into quarterly OKRs and sprint planning.
• Lead root-cause analyses (RCAs) for Sev-1 incidents, presenting findings to executive leadership and driving corrective actions that prevent recurrence; champion a culture of blameless post-mortems and continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior engineers through pair programming, design reviews, and brown-bag sessions; raise the bar on code quality, testing rigor, and operational excellence across the Bangalore and Pune sustenance squads.
• Contribute to the evolution of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Argo CD) by adding performance, security, and chaos-testing stages that shorten feedback loops and harden releases.
• Collaborate with Technical Writers to generate release notes, migration guides, and in-product help that demystify new features for administrators and end-users.
• Engage directly with enterprise customers during escalations, translating complex technical details into business impact and restoring confidence through transparent communication and rapid resolution.
• Evaluate emerging cloud services (e.g., AWS Graviton, GCP AlloyDB) and open-source projects for potential integration, running proof-of-concepts that quantify cost, performance, and operational trade-offs.
• Uphold security and compliance mandates (SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA) by embedding encryption, RBAC, and audit logging into every layer of the stack; participate in annual penetration-test remediations and certification audits.

🎯 Requirements

• 5–10 years of hands-on software engineering with at least 3 years building and sustaining cloud-native, distributed systems on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Expert-level proficiency in Node.js, Scala, or Java, demonstrated through shipped products serving 1000+ concurrent users or 1 TB+ datasets.
• Production-grade experience containerizing microservices with Docker and orchestrating them via Kubernetes, including writing custom operators or controllers.
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design, distributed consensus, eventual consistency, and performance tuning in multi-tenant SaaS environments.
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
