đź“‹ Description
- • Meridio is seeking a talented and driven Systems Automation Engineer to join our growing, remote-first team. Our mission is to simplify, make affordable, and increase accessibility to health benefits for small businesses. To achieve this, we are strategically investing in robust internal systems that empower a lean team to achieve significant impact. This role is pivotal in developing and enhancing our internal tools, automating complex workflows, and seamlessly integrating disparate systems. You will be instrumental in creating lightweight, user-friendly interfaces and automating processes, thereby enabling our teams to operate with greater speed and efficiency, all without requiring extensive involvement from our core Product or Engineering departments for internal tooling needs.
- • As a member of a small, agile team, you will thrive in an environment where challenges are not always perfectly defined, priorities can shift dynamically, and each day presents unique opportunities. We deeply value individuals who demonstrate strong judgment, embrace ownership of their work, and are comfortable navigating ambiguity by leveraging context rather than relying on rigid, predefined rules. If you are energized by the prospect of tackling undefined problems, enjoy making well-reasoned trade-offs, and excel at building practical, effective solutions within a fast-paced setting, you will find a welcoming and stimulating environment here.
- • This is a modern builder role designed for individuals who are passionate about reducing operational friction, exploring and experimenting with new technologies, and ensuring that our internal systems function flawlessly and intuitively. You will report directly to our Chief Product Officer, working closely with them to align automation efforts with strategic business objectives.
- • Your core responsibilities will include the design, development, and ongoing maintenance of internal tools. These tools will be crucial for efficiently viewing and managing critical data related to accounts, members, and overall operational metrics. You will be responsible for creating and refining internal interfaces, ensuring that various teams can access the information and perform tasks they need through self-service mechanisms, thereby minimizing reliance on engineering support for routine operational queries.
- • A significant aspect of this role involves automating workflows that span across multiple tools and systems. By identifying and implementing automation opportunities, you will drastically reduce the need for manual intervention in repetitive tasks, freeing up valuable team time for more strategic initiatives. This will involve skillfully stitching together various components, including APIs, custom scripts, and modern automation platforms, to create cohesive and efficient automated processes.
- • You will be encouraged to experiment with emerging technologies, including AI agents, where they offer a tangible advantage and can provide significant leverage in improving our internal operations. This forward-thinking approach ensures our systems remain cutting-edge and highly effective.
- • Collaboration is key. You will partner closely with the Product, Operations, and Engineering teams to identify and prioritize high-impact automation opportunities. This cross-functional collaboration will ensure that your work is aligned with the broader company goals and addresses the most pressing needs.
- • We operate with a philosophy of moving quickly, iterating frequently, and continuously improving our tools over time. This iterative approach allows us to adapt to changing needs and deliver value rapidly.
- • Success in your first 12 months will be measured by the creation of internal tools that our teams genuinely enjoy using, a noticeable reduction in ad hoc requests directed to Product and Engineering for tooling support, a significant decrease in manual and repetitive work across the organization, and the enablement of faster experiments and operational improvements. You will establish clear ownership of internal tooling and automation initiatives, becoming the go-to expert in this domain.
- • We are looking for individuals who are energized by scrappy environments where they can move fast, experiment freely, and continuously improve processes and systems. You should possess a genuine passion for building tools that simplify and enhance the work of others. Comfort with ambiguity, a willingness to iterate, and a preference for progress over perfection are essential qualities. You should be adept at explaining technical concepts clearly to non-technical teammates and thrive in collaborative, fast-moving settings. Your ability to connect systems efficiently without over-engineering solutions will be highly valued.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3-6 years of hands-on experience building and owning internal tools, automation workflows, or operational systems.
- • Proven experience with scripting (e.g., Python, JavaScript), APIs (REST, GraphQL), and workflow automation tools.
- • Demonstrated comfort with lightweight frontend or interface development for internal tools.
- • Ability to connect disparate systems and automate processes efficiently, avoiding over-engineering.
- • Experience working within early-stage or scaling technology companies.
- • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance plans.
- • 401k retirement savings plan.
- • Remote-first company culture with opportunities for connection through bi-annual in-person offsites.
- • Generous Discretionary Time Off (DTO) policy.
- • Opportunity to make a significant impact on the company's operational efficiency and growth.
- • Exposure to modern automation technologies and AI agents in a practical, applied setting.
