📋 Description

• Join Cloudflare's mission to build a better Internet by contributing to the development of Cloudflare Browser Isolation, a cutting-edge secure remote browsing platform designed to shield users from pervasive online security threats.
• As a Systems Engineer on the Browser Isolation team, you will play a pivotal role in the entire lifecycle of our distributed browsing engine, from conceptualization and design through to implementation, scaling, and ongoing optimization.
• Your primary focus will be on enhancing and scaling our Chromium-based distributed browsing engine, ensuring its robustness, performance, and security across a global infrastructure.
• You will also be instrumental in developing and refining the control plane that orchestrates these distributed Chromium browsers, enabling low-latency remote browsing experiences for millions of users worldwide.
• This role offers a unique opportunity to tackle complex, large-scale problems that directly shape the future of secure web browsing and contribute to Cloudflare's industry-leading network.
• You will be involved in making critical patches and modifications to the Chromium browser itself, ensuring it meets the demanding requirements of a secure, high-performance remote browsing solution.
• Contribute to the orchestration layer responsible for managing and deploying browser instances across Cloudflare's global Anycast network, ensuring seamless and efficient operation.
• Work with cutting-edge technologies including WebAssembly, TypeScript, WebGL for the client-side experience, and WebRTC and Skia for remote streaming technology.
• Develop and maintain the core C++ codebase for the remote browser engine, optimizing for performance and security.
• Utilize Go and TypeScript for the orchestration layer, leveraging tools like Nomad and Consul for efficient workload management.
• Engage in systems-level debugging and performance tuning to ensure optimal operation of the browser isolation service at scale.
• Collaborate with a talented team of engineers to design and implement features that enhance user security and browsing experience.
• Contribute to the build infrastructure, ensuring efficient and reliable development and deployment pipelines.
• Analyze and resolve complex technical challenges related to distributed systems, real-time streaming, and browser security.
• Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing sessions, and contribute to the overall technical direction of the Browser Isolation product.
• You will be working in a hybrid model, expecting to spend 2 days per week in the office, fostering collaboration and team synergy.
• This is a single pipeline position, meaning we are looking for talented engineers at all levels of experience, from junior to senior, and will place you in the role that best matches your skills and potential.
• Embrace ambiguity and demonstrate a strong ability to solve difficult, open-ended problems with innovative solutions.
• Develop a deep understanding of how web browsers function and the security implications of remote browsing technologies.
• Contribute to the evolution of our secure browsing solutions, ensuring they remain at the forefront of internet security.
• Help build and scale a product that protects users from malware, phishing, and other web-based threats, making the internet a safer place for everyone.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant systems engineering or software development experience.
• Proficiency in C++ and at least one other language such as Go or TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of Linux/UNIX systems and system-level debugging.
• Experience with distributed systems, algorithms, data structures, and software design principles.
• Ability to navigate and contribute to large, complex codebases effectively.
