📋 Description
- • Design and implement public safety radio communication systems using Motorola ASTRO 25 and adjacent technologies for state and local government agencies in Florida.
- • Lead technical aspects of assigned projects from design through system acceptance, collaborating with Project Management, Systems Technologists, Construction Managers, and Customer Service Managers.
- • Engineer radio networks including infrastructure, subscribers, mobile backhaul, WAN, and CEN networks to meet mission-critical public safety requirements.
- • Conduct radio coverage testing, frequency analysis, and interference mitigation to ensure optimal system performance.
- • Perform system buildout, configuration, and acceptance testing in both lab staging and live field environments.
- • Engage directly with customers during design reviews, witnessed staging events, coverage acceptance testing, live system upgrades, and troubleshooting sessions.
- • Prepare and maintain complete system documentation, including fleet maps, encryption templates, and radio programming configurations.
- • Manage FCC and industry regulatory licensing for radio systems, including frequency searches and compliance documentation.
- • Configure and deploy networking equipment including Fortinet and Juniper firewalls, Nokia 7705 and Juniper SRX/MX routers, and HP/Aruba and Juniper switches.
- • Implement and maintain remote access protocols including SSH, SCP, SFTP, and RDP for system administration and troubleshooting.
- • Design and support point-to-point microwave systems, including RF and network planning for communication links.
- • Assist in the construction of remote communication sites, including site selection, grounding, tower and shelter requirements, and compound development.
- • Apply RFDS principles for antenna and cable selection, transmit combiners, receive multi-couplers, and lightning protection systems.
- • Integrate software applications and understand Application Protocol Interfaces (API) concepts, computer operating systems, and the OSI model.
- • Utilize networking protocols such as OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS, SIP, RTP, SNMP, and NAT across routers, switches, and stateful packet firewalls.
- • Work with physical layer technologies including fiber, copper, and microwave transmission media.
- • Operate and manage servers and systems running VMware ESXi, Linux, and Microsoft operating systems.
- • Travel 25-50% within the T4FL territory, with primary focus on South Florida, to support on-site project implementation and customer engagements.
- • Maintain strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with customers, colleagues, and third-party service providers.
- • Demonstrate self-motivation, strong written and oral communication abilities, and collaborative problem-solving in high-pressure, mission-critical environments.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or technical discipline and 2+ years of engineering or technical experience, OR 4-6 years of engineering or technical experience
- • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely; no employer sponsorship available
- • Experience with radio frequency engineering principles and Land/Mobile Radio Engineering
