• • As a Systems Engineer - ERP (SAP), you will be instrumental in architecting, modernizing, and seamlessly integrating SAP-centric enterprise landscapes with Tessera's innovative AI-native platform. This role is a unique fusion of deep SAP technical expertise, particularly in ABAP development and S/4HANA modernization, combined with robust systems engineering, sophisticated integration design, and the practical application of automation.
• • You will engage directly with SAP ECC and S/4HANA systems, meticulously analyzing and refining custom ABAP code, architecting intricate cross-system integrations, and championing AI-driven automation initiatives across your ERP, CRM, and finance platforms. This position is perfectly suited for a seasoned engineer who possesses a profound understanding of how SAP systems function in live production environments and is eager to modernize them securely and efficiently through intelligent automation.
• • Your core responsibilities will encompass SAP Systems Engineering and ERP Development. This includes analyzing, designing, refactoring, and remediating custom ABAP code across both SAP ECC and S/4HANA environments. You will provide critical support for S/4HANA migrations, focusing on custom code adaptation, data model adjustments, and performance optimization to ensure a smooth transition.
• • You will be tasked with debugging complex SAP issues that span application, data, and integration layers, ensuring the integrity and performance of the system. A key aspect of this role is ensuring that all SAP solutions adhere to clean-core principles, embrace extensibility best practices, and align with stringent enterprise governance standards.
• • Your work will span various SAP versions, including ECC, S/4HANA On-Premise, Private Cloud, and Public Cloud, and you will manage the setup and development of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) integrations. A solid grasp of core SAP modules such as Sales and Distribution (SD), Materials Management (MM), Finance and Controlling (FI/CO), and Production Planning (PP) within integrated enterprise landscapes is essential.
• • In Enterprise Architecture and Integration Design, you will design and implement robust integrations connecting SAP core systems with adjacent enterprise platforms like CRM, Supply Chain Management (SCM), and data warehouses. You will leverage a variety of integration technologies, including OData, SOAP, ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP), IDocs, Remote Function Calls (RFCs), event-driven architectures, and middleware solutions (e.g., MuleSoft or similar), to facilitate seamless cross-system workflows.
• • You will collaborate on the development of end-to-end architecture designs that strategically embed AI-driven automation into SAP-centric landscapes, enhancing efficiency and intelligence. Ensuring the operational reliability, security, scalability, and optimal data flow within these complex systems is paramount.
• • Within AI-Enabled Modernization and Automation, you will apply Tessera's advanced multi-agent AI platform to automate SAP-related workflows, harmonize data, and accelerate code remediation efforts. You will work closely with AI and platform engineers to integrate SAP systems into agent orchestration and governance frameworks, enabling sophisticated automation capabilities.
• • You will support real-world modernization scenarios, often characterized by incomplete documentation and complex legacy customizations, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving prowess. Your role extends to Customer and Delivery Collaboration, where you will act as a hands-on technical contributor throughout enterprise transformation projects.
• • You will foster close collaboration with architecture, product, and delivery teams to guarantee successful project outcomes, communicating technical findings and design decisions with clarity to both SAP specialists and non-SAP stakeholders. Travel to customer sites will be required to support implementations and critical project milestones.
• • Embracing Ownership and Operational Excellence, you will take full responsibility for delivering production-quality solutions within regulated, mission-critical environments. This involves a careful balance between execution speed, system safety, robust governance, and auditability. You will also contribute to refining and documenting internal best practices for SAP modernization and enterprise automation.
• • Technically, you will possess strong experience with ABAP development, debugging, and performance tuning, coupled with hands-on exposure to SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA environments. Deep expertise in SAP data models, including Core Data Services (CDS) views, ABAP Managed Database Procedures (AMDPs), and WRICEF objects (Workflows, Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms), is crucial. Familiarity with SAPUI5, S/4HANA migration considerations, clean-core principles, and tools like ABAP Development Tools (ADT) and Business Application Studio (BAS) is highly desirable.
• • Your enterprise integration skills should encompass experience with integration patterns like APIs, BAPIs, IDocs, RFCs, ETL, and events, along with exposure to ERP-adjacent platforms such as Salesforce, Workday, or Snowflake. The ability to reason about cross-system data consistency and process orchestration is key. A working knowledge of ABAP or similar languages for automation and tooling, and the ability to debug systems across multiple layers, will be essential. Exposure to AI-driven automation, orchestration frameworks, or workflow engines is a significant plus.
• • Familiarity with cloud platforms (BTP, AWS, GCP, or Azure) and an awareness of observability, logging, monitoring, and secure deployment practices are also important. You should possess 3-7 years of experience in SAP systems engineering, ABAP development, or SAP technical consulting, with a proven track record of working with complex, customized SAP landscapes. The ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and strong communication skills across diverse audiences are critical. A willingness to travel to customer sites, primarily within the U.S., is required.
