- • As the Team Lead, Payroll Regulatory Compliance for EMEA at Deel, you will be instrumental in upholding the integrity and accuracy of our global payroll operations across a diverse and rapidly evolving region. Deel is at the forefront of transforming the future of work, providing an all-in-one payroll and HR platform for global teams. Our mission is to unlock global opportunity for every person, team, and business, and your role is critical in ensuring that our services are not only innovative but also impeccably compliant with the complex web of regulations across EMEA.
- • In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the comprehensive oversight of payroll and tax compliance throughout the EMEA region. This involves meticulously ensuring that all payroll processes, from initial setup to final disbursement, strictly adhere to the legal and regulatory requirements of each country within your purview. Your expertise will be the bedrock upon which our clients can confidently scale their global workforces, knowing that Deel is managing their payroll with the highest standards of compliance.
- • A key aspect of your leadership will be building and nurturing a high-performing team of payroll compliance experts. You will recruit, mentor, and guide these specialists to ensure robust coverage across critical EMEA jurisdictions, aligning their efforts with Deel's overarching product strategy and business objectives. This team will be your direct charge, and their success in navigating regional nuances will be a testament to your leadership.
- • You will serve as a crucial bridge between our Product Management and Engineering teams and the intricacies of regional compliance. By providing deep insights and expert guidance on legal and compliance issues, you will directly influence the development and enhancement of our payroll engine. Your input will ensure that new features and system updates are not only functional but also fully compliant from inception, preventing costly errors and reputational damage.
- • Staying ahead of the curve is paramount. You will proactively monitor and stay abreast of all legislative changes, updates, and emerging trends in payroll and tax laws across the EMEA region. This foresight will enable you to advise on necessary adjustments to our payroll systems and processes, ensuring Deel remains a compliant and trusted partner for businesses operating internationally.
- • Your role will involve extensive collaboration with a wide array of cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Product, Design, and other Compliance specialists. You will act as a central liaison, facilitating the seamless integration of tax and compliance requirements into our product roadmap and operational workflows. This collaborative approach ensures that compliance is embedded in every aspect of our service delivery.
- • A significant part of your responsibility will be the proactive identification of potential compliance risks within our existing payroll processes. You will develop and implement strategies for both preventive measures and corrective actions, mitigating exposure and safeguarding Deel and its clients from regulatory penalties and operational disruptions.
- • You will be tasked with reviewing and approving the architectural designs and process flows of our payroll systems. This critical gatekeeping function ensures that all proposed system changes and new developments meet stringent compliance standards before implementation, guaranteeing the robustness and legality of our offerings.
- • Effective communication is vital. You will manage communications with both internal stakeholders and external partners, including legal advisors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies. This ensures that Deel has access to the most current and accurate compliance information and that this knowledge is effectively disseminated across the organization.
- • Furthermore, you will play an educational role, empowering our product and development teams with a thorough understanding of specific compliance requirements and best practices pertinent to payroll operations within the EMEA region. This knowledge transfer is essential for fostering a culture of compliance throughout the company.
- • Maintaining meticulous records of all compliance checks, decisions, and advice provided is a non-negotiable aspect of this role. These detailed records ensure transparency, accountability, and provide a crucial audit trail for internal and external reviews.
- • Finally, you will continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to our payroll systems and processes. Your objective will be to enhance compliance, boost efficiency, and elevate the overall user experience for our clients, ensuring Deel remains the industry leader in global payroll solutions.
