Team Lead Software Engineer (Frontend or Mobile)

📋 Description

• • Own and evolve the core UI/UX infrastructure that powers Capital on Tap’s award-winning business credit-card and spend-management platform. You will lead the FUSE (Foundational User Experience) team in building, scaling, and maintaining our design system and component libraries used by 200,000+ small-business customers and every internal product squad.
• • Lead a high-performing, cross-functional pod of 3-5 frontend or mobile engineers while remaining at least 50 % hands-on in code. You will pair-program, review pull-requests, and ship production features alongside mentoring, 1:1s, and career-growth planning.
• • Translate ambitious product goals into a technical roadmap that balances speed, quality, and long-term scalability. You will run quarterly OKR cycles, sprint planning, and retros to ensure predictable delivery and continuous improvement.
• • Champion accessibility, performance, and responsive design across web and mobile surfaces. You will set coding standards, enforce automated testing (unit, visual regression, e2e), and monitor Core Web Vitals to keep page-load times under 1.5 s on 3G networks.
• • Collaborate daily with Product Managers, UX Researchers, and Technical Leaders to shape user stories, define acceptance criteria, and make data-driven product decisions. You will represent engineering in discovery workshops and influence the roadmap before a single line of code is written.
• • Remove blockers and shield the team from distractions so engineers can stay in flow. You will negotiate scope, manage stakeholder expectations, and escalate risks early to the Engineering Manager.
• • Foster an inclusive, feedback-rich culture where every engineer feels safe to experiment, fail fast, and learn. You will run blameless post-mortems, facilitate lunch-and-learns, and sponsor internal guilds for React Native, TypeScript, or emerging web standards.
• • Drive adoption of the design system beyond your immediate team. You will create documentation, code generators, and Storybook examples that enable 20+ product squads to ship consistent, on-brand features without reinventing the wheel.
• • Contribute to open-source projects and represent Capital on Tap at meet-ups and conferences. You will share our learnings on scaling micro-frontends, server-side rendering, and mobile-first architecture to the broader tech community.
• • Measure impact through both qualitative user delight and quantitative business metrics. You will instrument analytics, run A/B tests, and iterate until conversion, retention, and NPS move in the right direction.
