- • The Technical Account Manager (TAM) at Availity serves as a critical liaison between technical teams, health plan analysts, Strategic Account Managers, and strategic health plan partners, ensuring that Availity’s products and services align with customer technical needs and business objectives. This role is pivotal in driving customer success by building, maintaining, and expanding relationships with payer partners to advance Availity’s position in the healthcare IT marketplace.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting complex account relationships as the primary point of contact for accountability, issue escalation, and resolution; assisting with re-contracting processes involving pricing, proposals, and negotiations; gathering and summarizing competitive data to inform account growth strategies; collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement new functionality for assigned payers; monitoring industry and competitive trends to inform account planning; identifying and coordinating resources to achieve upsell objectives; communicating regularly with accounts via email, phone, newsletters, and meetings based on tier structure and need; consulting with health plan customers to identify and qualify upsell opportunities; monitoring retention through volume analysis and account penetration; reporting progress on goals using tracked metrics; building strong inter-departmental relationships to support team objectives; and establishing, maintaining, and updating Relationship Account Plans for all assigned accounts.

- • In this role, you will develop deep expertise in healthcare payer operations, provider relations, and healthcare IT systems while honing strategic account management, cross-functional collaboration, and consultative selling skills. You will gain exposure to multiple areas of the business, positioning yourself for advancement into senior account management or leadership roles. You’ll also strengthen your ability to analyze data, manage complex projects, and act as a trusted advisor to clients—translating technical capabilities into business value while representing both the customer’s voice internally and Availity’s interests externally.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 3 years of account or customer management experience in healthcare, payer, provider relations, or technology environments, with proven experience in sales or solution selling.
- • Associate degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or equivalent work experience; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings and engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- • Knowledge of healthcare payer processing, provider/hospital office operations, customer service, and IT operations.
- • Exceptional customer service skills, combined with strong analytical and research abilities.
- • Proactive, self-starting mindset with high motivation and the ability to use discretion and make sound decisions.
- • Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance requirements.
- • Familiarity with technical systems and internal operating platforms such as Salesforce, Jira, Gainsight, and Confluence is a differentiator.
- • Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment and manage complex projects end-to-end to ensure high satisfaction and execution quality.
