- • As a Technical Lead II on the Security Privacy team at HubSpot, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding personally identifiable information (PII) across our entire platform. This pivotal 'player-coach' role involves owning the technical direction for our privacy tooling, co-setting product strategy in collaboration with Product Managers, and leading the delivery of complex, impactful projects.
- • Your primary focus will be on building and operating sophisticated backend and frontend systems designed to automatically scan HubSpot’s codebase and infrastructure. These systems are crucial for cataloging PII usage and ownership, classifying sensitive datasets, enforcing stringent data protection standards, and orchestrating critical GDPR deletion workflows when customers exercise their data rights.
- • You will be instrumental in making it straightforward for every engineering team at HubSpot to understand the sensitive data they handle and to implement appropriate data protection measures, thereby fostering a culture of privacy and compliance.
- • This role sits within the Security Automated Assurance group, requiring close partnership with HubSpot’s Privacy, Legal, and Security organizations, as well as product and infrastructure teams across the company. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining customer trust and ensuring regulatory adherence.
- • You will lead the Security Privacy team, driving the development of services that are essential for PII cataloging, dataset classification, data protection standard enforcement, and the automation of GDPR deletion workflows at scale.
- • A significant part of your responsibility will involve designing and evolving robust distributed systems. These systems will be responsible for scanning HubSpot's extensive codebase and infrastructure to detect PII usage, accurately track dataset ownership, and orchestrate privacy-related actions efficiently.
- • You will take full ownership of the reliability and on-call responsibilities for the services your team manages. This includes proactive alerting, effective incident response, and the continuous improvement of our data privacy pipelines to ensure maximum uptime and performance.
- • Collaboration is key in this role. You will work closely with Privacy, Legal, and Security teams to translate complex data protection requirements and evolving regulations into practical, robust technical solutions.
- • You will actively mentor and coach engineers within your team, fostering their growth through detailed design reviews, pair programming sessions, and constructive feedback. Your guidance will be crucial in raising the overall engineering quality and execution standards of the team.
- • You will play a vital role in shaping the future roadmap for how HubSpot manages and protects personal data at scale. This involves balancing long-term strategic platform investments with the immediate needs driven by regulatory compliance and business objectives.
- • This is a hands-on leadership position. You will dedicate a substantial portion of your time to designing intricate systems, writing high-quality code, and meticulously reviewing changes, while simultaneously providing essential technical guidance and mentorship to your team members.
- • You will be empowered to drive technical initiatives, influence architectural decisions, and champion best practices in software development, reliability, and operational excellence within the Security Privacy domain.
- • Your contributions will directly impact HubSpot's ability to maintain customer trust and comply with global data privacy regulations, making this a highly visible and critical role within the organization.
- • You will contribute to building an inclusive, high-trust team culture where engineers feel empowered to do their best work and grow their careers.
- • You will be a key player in ensuring the security and privacy of customer data, a fundamental aspect of HubSpot's mission and customer commitment.
