• • As a Technical Lead II for the Security Privacy team at HubSpot, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of data protection and privacy across our entire platform. This is a unique opportunity to blend hands-on engineering with leadership, guiding a talented team to build and operate critical services that safeguard personally identifiable information (PII) for HubSpot and its customers.
• • Your primary responsibility will be to provide technical direction and co-set product strategy for the Security Privacy team, working in close collaboration with Product Managers and other stakeholders. You will be a key player in the TL/PM triad, ensuring our technical solutions align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• • You will lead the delivery of complex, high-impact projects focused on data privacy, PII management, and data protection. This involves not only driving your team's initiatives but also collaborating with other Technical Leads to unblock cross-team dependencies and ensure seamless integration of privacy tooling across HubSpot's diverse product landscape.
• • A significant aspect of this role involves taking proactive ownership of your team's on-call rotation, ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of the services you manage. This includes developing robust alerting strategies, leading incident response efforts, and driving continuous improvement to minimize downtime and maintain operational excellence.
• • You will be a catalyst for growth, mentoring and developing the engineers on your team. This involves fostering an inclusive, high-trust team culture, providing constructive feedback, conducting thorough code and design reviews, and facilitating pair programming sessions to elevate the team's overall technical capabilities and code quality.
• • This is a deeply hands-on leadership position. You will spend a substantial portion of your time actively engaged in system design, writing production-ready code, and meticulously reviewing changes. Your technical expertise will be crucial in architecting scalable, resilient, and secure distributed systems.
• • You will design and evolve sophisticated distributed systems responsible for scanning HubSpot's extensive codebase and infrastructure. These systems will automatically catalog PII, classify datasets, enforce data protection standards, and orchestrate complex GDPR deletion workflows, ensuring compliance and customer trust at scale.
• • You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Privacy, Legal, and Security organizations, as well as product and infrastructure teams. Your role will be to translate intricate data protection requirements and evolving regulations into practical, robust, and maintainable technical solutions.
• • You will have the opportunity to shape the strategic roadmap for how HubSpot manages and protects personal data. This involves balancing long-term platform investments with the immediate needs driven by regulatory changes and business priorities, ensuring HubSpot remains at the forefront of data privacy best practices.
• • The Security Privacy team is part of the broader Security Automated Assurance group, working at the intersection of engineering, security, and compliance.
