  • • As a Technical Writer at GitLab, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the narrative and clarity of our comprehensive AI-powered DevSecOps Platform. This is an expression of interest for a future opportunity, allowing us to proactively build a pipeline of exceptional talent. You will be instrumental in ensuring that our complex software solutions are accessible, understandable, and usable for a diverse global audience, ranging from individual contributors to large enterprise organizations.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be to create, maintain, and improve high-quality technical documentation that supports the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC). This includes user guides, API documentation, tutorials, release notes, installation guides, and internal technical specifications. You will translate intricate technical concepts into clear, concise, and accurate content that empowers our users and internal teams.
  • • You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of our product features, functionalities, and target audiences. This collaborative approach ensures that the documentation is not only technically accurate but also aligned with user needs and business objectives.
  • • A key aspect of this role involves embracing and integrating AI into your daily workflows. GitLab is at the forefront of leveraging AI as a core productivity multiplier. You will be expected to utilize AI tools to enhance your writing process, improve efficiency, generate content ideas, and ensure the highest quality of documentation, thereby contributing to innovation and impact.
  • • You will be responsible for managing the documentation lifecycle, from initial drafting and review to publication and ongoing updates. This includes adhering to style guides, maintaining consistency across all documentation, and ensuring that content remains current with product releases and updates.
  • • You will contribute to the continuous improvement of our documentation processes and standards. This involves identifying areas for enhancement, proposing new tools or methodologies, and actively participating in knowledge exchange within the technical writing team and the broader GitLab community.
  • • The role demands a proactive and self-directed approach, characteristic of GitLab's remote-first, asynchronous work environment. You will need to be comfortable working independently, managing your time effectively, and communicating clearly across different time zones.
  • • You will be a champion for documentation quality and user experience, ensuring that our platform's capabilities are effectively communicated and understood. This involves advocating for the user and ensuring that documentation meets their needs for learning, troubleshooting, and effective utilization of the platform.
  • • By joining GitLab, you will be part of a company that is transforming how the world develops software. You will contribute to a mission that enables everyone to contribute to and co-create the software that powers our world, accelerating human progress. Your work will directly impact the success of over 100,000 organizations that rely on GitLab's AI-powered DevSecOps Platform.
  • • This expression of interest is for a future opportunity. By submitting your application, you are expressing your interest in joining GitLab when a suitable role becomes available. We will keep your information on file and reach out when a position matches your skills and interests, allowing us to move quickly when the right moment arises.
