Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Be the behind-the-scenes hero that keeps Berklee NYC’s graduate-level creative media and technology programs running flawlessly. As a Temporary Educational Support Associate you will work directly with faculty, staff, and students to ensure every classroom, studio, and event space is ready for world-class instruction and performance.
- • Open and close academic facilities each day, conducting thorough walk-throughs to confirm that all technology, instruments, and safety protocols are in place before the first student arrives and after the last one leaves.
- • Execute rapid, precise classroom setups and breakdowns for three distinct graduate specializations—Live Music Production and Design, Songwriting and Production, and Writing and Production for Musical Theater—rotating configurations from recording sessions to theatrical lighting rigs in minutes.
- • Deploy and calibrate professional-grade audio equipment: install backline, position microphones, route signals through Dante or analog paths, configure multi-channel audio interfaces, and verify DAW integration so faculty can teach without technical delays.
- • Operate and program lighting consoles (ETC Eos family preferred) and LED fixtures to create immersive learning environments; adjust color temperature and cue stacks to match lesson plans ranging from live concert design to musical theater scene work.
- • Move, rig, and focus video projectors, cameras, switchers, and streaming encoders for hybrid classes and public events; troubleshoot HDMI, SDI, and NDI workflows on the fly.
- • Maintain five recording studios, a black-box theater, video control room, and multiple technology labs—ensuring cables are coiled, consoles are labeled, patchbays are normalized, and equipment inventories are accurate down to the last XLR and guitar pick.
- • Provide real-time technical support during lectures, labs, and student showcases; diagnose signal flow issues, swap failed gear, and document fixes so recurring problems disappear.
- • Coach and supervise student employees on safe lifting, cable management, and equipment etiquette; create shift schedules that align with Berklee’s 24-hour academic and commercial studio calendar.
- • Order, receive, and stock consumables—from gaffer tape and guitar strings to printer paper and whiteboard markers—keeping storage rooms organized and par levels visible at a glance.
- • Deep-clean studios and classrooms nightly, disinfecting surfaces, wrapping cables, and resetting furniture so every space looks and feels like opening day.
- • Assist in the installation and testing of new hardware and software upgrades—patching firmware, updating driver libraries, and authoring quick-start guides that empower faculty to adopt new tools quickly.
- • Contribute to a living knowledge base: photograph signal chains, write step-by-step setup sheets, and record short Loom videos so future associates can replicate complex configurations without guesswork.
- • Model Berklee’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion by fostering a respectful, collaborative atmosphere where students of every background feel empowered to experiment and create.
- • Embrace a flexible schedule that peaks at 28–35 hours per week during the academic calendar (September–mid-December and mid-January–June), with occasional nights and weekends to support concerts, recording sessions, and special events.
- • Thrive in a truly hybrid environment where Grammy-winning artists might be cutting vocals in Studio A while graduate students rehearse a musical theater number next door—your adaptability makes both experiences seamless.
