- • The Underwriter role at Prime Therapeutics is critical to the company’s mission of connecting care beyond profits, as it directly supports the financial structuring of competitive pharmacy benefit management (PBM) proposals that drive client acquisition and retention. This position ensures financial accuracy and strategic alignment in RFP responses, enabling Prime to deliver value-based solutions while meeting profitability targets.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include gathering and analyzing documentation and data to develop pricing for moderate to complex RFPs, evaluating customer and prospect utilization and financial experience, performing claims re-pricing analyses on external claims data, maintaining detailed documentation and reports of all pricing decisions, participating in the development of underwriting methodologies, models, and strategies, and collaborating with Sales, Client Engagement, Pricing, Trade Relations, and other internal teams to ensure alignment and responsiveness.
- • The Underwriter works within a purpose-driven, cross-functional team at Prime Therapeutics, a mission-focused PBM that prioritizes equitable access to care and innovative pharmacy solutions. The team operates with a strong emphasis on collaboration, integrity, and data-informed decision-making, supporting the company’s goal to transform pharmacy care through transparency and accountability.
- • In this role, the individual will develop deep expertise in PBM financial modeling, underwriting analytics, and RFP strategy, gaining hands-on experience with claims data interpretation, pricing mechanics, and stakeholder consultation. They will build transferable skills in financial analysis, business mathematics, and client-facing communication, positioning them for advancement into senior underwriting, pricing analytics, or strategic finance roles within the healthcare or insurance sectors.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience; high school diploma or GED required
- • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience in finance or accounting
- • Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with strong ability to calculate discounts, proportions, percentages, and apply business mathematics and algebra
