We are seeking a highly skilled and tech-savvy Urdu Localization Translator to significantly enhance the user experience for our Urdu-speaking learners.
- • In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the meticulous localization of all marketing and product copy. This involves not just direct translation, but a deep understanding of transcreation – ensuring that the content is not only linguistically accurate but also culturally relevant, engaging, and perfectly aligned with Duolingo's distinctive brand voice and style guide.
- • Your expertise will be vital in adapting Duolingo's innovative educational content for the Urdu market, making complex linguistic concepts accessible and enjoyable for learners of all levels.
- • You will play a key part in maintaining and developing in-house style guides for Urdu, establishing best practices for tone, vocabulary, and stylistic nuances to ensure consistency and quality across all platforms.
- • A significant aspect of this role involves contributing to the development and refinement of our Text-to-Speech (TTS) technology for Urdu. This includes evaluating synthesized audio with a discerning ear, identifying subtle nuances in accents, and providing detailed feedback to improve the naturalness and clarity of the voice output.

🎯 Requirements
- • Native fluency in Urdu and full professional fluency in English.
- • Minimum of 3 years of experience in translating, transcreation, proofreading, and/or copywriting for an Urdu audience.
- • Proven experience localizing online, mobile, and/or game products.
- • Ability to evaluate Text-to-Speech (TTS) audio in Urdu with a skilled ear to report on quality, including nuances in accents.
- • Experience reviewing, annotating, and refining Large Language Model (LLM) outputs for linguistic accuracy, tone, cultural nuance, and factual correctness is strongly preferred.
