- • Manage and develop strategic partnerships with top venture capital funds, startup accelerators, and key players in the global startup ecosystem to drive adoption of OpenAI’s AI models among portfolio companies.
- • Design and execute 1:many engagement strategies—including events, workshops, and online programs—to enable thousands of startups to rapidly build with OpenAI APIs and scale their AI applications.
- • Serve as a technical and strategic liaison between startups and internal OpenAI teams (product, engineering, solutions architecture, support) to ensure startups receive tailored guidance and resources for successful model integration.
- • Provide direct technical guidance to startup founders and technical teams in 1:1 engagements, translating complex AI capabilities into actionable use cases and implementation pathways.
- • Represent OpenAI at key startup ecosystem events, conferences, and speaking engagements to strengthen brand presence and foster trust among founders and investors.
- • Analyze performance metrics across startup portfolios to identify adoption trends, barriers to entry, and opportunities for improved support, and deliver insights to internal stakeholders to inform product and program strategy.
- • Contribute to the development of startup-focused programs, toolkits, and resources designed to accelerate onboarding, reduce friction, and enhance the overall experience of building with OpenAI models.
- • Act as an advocate for startup customers by synthesizing product feedback, usage patterns, and pain points from the field into actionable recommendations for product management and engineering teams.
- • Monitor and report on the evolving AI startup landscape, including emerging competitors, technological shifts, and founder needs, to inform OpenAI’s broader corporate strategy and product roadmap.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, communications, business operations, people operations, finance, and solutions teams to align startup initiatives with company-wide goals and resource allocation.
- • Support the recruitment, onboarding, and development of team members to scale the Startup Go To Market function effectively and maintain a high-performance culture.
- • Contribute to shaping and reinforcing company culture by modeling OpenAI’s mission-driven values and fostering a collaborative, customer-centric environment across teams.
- • Work within a hybrid model requiring three days per week in the London office, engaging in face-to-face collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
- • Leverage deep understanding of the venture capital ecosystem to identify high-potential investment firms and accelerator programs aligned with OpenAI’s mission and technical capabilities.
- • Translate technical AI concepts into accessible language for non-technical startup founders, investors, and internal stakeholders across functions.
- • Lead high-visibility engagements such as product launches, investor briefings, and founder demo days, ensuring a polished, strategic, and impactful representation of OpenAI’s offerings.
- • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with C-level executives, venture partners, and founding teams at venture-backed startups, serving as a trusted advisor throughout their growth journey.
- • Proactively identify gaps in the startup support ecosystem and initiate bespoke programs to fill those gaps, requiring creativity, autonomy, and cross-organizational influence.
- • Contribute to strategic planning with multi-year horizons, ensuring OpenAI’s startup initiatives are aligned with market evolution and long-term AGI objectives.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years experience managing high-value external relationships with customers, partners, investors, or Board of Directors
- • Experience as a founder of a venture-backed startup (preferably technical), venture capital investor, or early employee at a fast-growing startup
- • Technical understanding of AI technologies and the AI product landscape
- • Proven ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- • Experience leading high-visibility customer engagements such as conferences, 1:many events, or product launches
- • Strong ability to gather, distill, and process complex market, competitor, and customer intelligence
