📋 Description

• This Venture Capital AI Residency offers senior research analysts and portfolio managers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with advanced AI systems in the context of institutional investment, bridging deep asset management expertise with frontier AI research.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and iterating realistic prompts to test AI-generated insights, systematically comparing human versus machine judgment in venture capital decisions, designing frameworks that translate VC evaluation criteria into AI challenges, and constructing expert benchmarks using real-world investment memos and market analyses to evaluate AI systems.
• The team at Mentis Technology Solutions Inc. combines institutional investment experience from firms like Lazard and Partners Group with machine learning and applied AI research, operating across London and San Francisco while collaborating with leading AI labs to improve model reasoning in high-stakes financial contexts.
• Participants will gain practical exposure to applying AI in venture capital, deepen their understanding of how AI reasons and generalizes in investment contexts, contribute to the development of AI evaluation frameworks, and position themselves at the forefront of AI-integrated investment practices.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of venture capital investing experience at a top-tier VC fund (e.g., Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Accel, Index Ventures, Lightspeed, Benchmark, Greylock, General Catalyst, NEA, Bessemer, Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund)
• Principal or Partner level; industry agnostic
• Deep experience evaluating early-stage (Seed/Series A) or growth-stage (Series B+) investments
• Strong frameworks for market sizing, competitive landscape analysis, and founder/team assessment
• Track record of leading or co-leading deals, writing investment memos, and managing board or observer relationships
• Genuine intellectual curiosity about the application of AI in venture capital and emerging technology
