As the Vice President of Defense & Security, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and safeguarding our operations, client engagements, and sensitive data, ensuring the integrity and trustworthiness of our work within the defense and government sectors.

• Your leadership will extend to developing and executing comprehensive security strategies that align with our business objectives and regulatory obligations. This includes overseeing all aspects of information security, physical security, personnel security, and compliance related to government contracts and sensitive projects.
• You will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating security risks across the organization. This involves conducting regular risk assessments, developing remediation plans, and ensuring the implementation of effective controls to protect our assets and client data.
• A key aspect of this role will be to serve as the primary security liaison for our defense and government clients. You will build and maintain strong relationships, understand their specific security needs and compliance requirements, and ensure Skylight consistently meets and exceeds these expectations.
• You will lead the development and enforcement of security policies, procedures, and guidelines. This includes creating clear documentation, providing training, and ensuring adherence across all departments and employee levels.
• This position requires a deep understanding of government security regulations, such as NIST, CMMC, FedRAMP, and other relevant frameworks. You will ensure our practices are compliant and that we are well-positioned to pursue and win contracts requiring stringent security clearances and protocols.
• You will manage and mentor a team of security professionals, fostering their growth and development. Your leadership will inspire a high-performing team dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of security.
• You will oversee incident response planning and execution. This includes developing comprehensive incident response plans, conducting tabletop exercises, and leading the response to any security breaches or incidents to minimize impact and ensure swift recovery.
• You will collaborate closely with other senior leaders, including engineering, legal, and operations, to integrate security considerations into all aspects of our business, from product development to client delivery.
• Your role will involve staying abreast of the evolving threat landscape, emerging security technologies, and regulatory changes. You will proactively adapt our security strategies to address new and emerging threats and opportunities.
• You will be responsible for managing the security aspects of our supply chain and third-party vendor relationships, ensuring that our partners also adhere to rigorous security standards.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience (10+ years) in a senior security leadership role, with a significant portion focused on the defense and/or government contracting sectors.
• Deep understanding of U.S. government security regulations, compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, FedRAMP, ITAR), and security best practices.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing comprehensive security strategies, policies, and procedures.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and mentoring high-performing security teams.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients, executives, and technical teams.
