Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Join BuildWitt as a Videographer and play a pivotal role in capturing the essence of the 'Dirt World' – the essential industries of food, water, shelter, power, and transportation. Our mission is to build the next generation of talent for these critical sectors by empowering companies to attract, train, and retain skilled individuals. As a Videographer, you will be instrumental in showcasing the hardworking people and vital operations that form the backbone of our society, creating compelling visual narratives that resonate with a broad audience.
- • This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission that truly matters, working with a high-caliber team on projects that span across the United States and potentially abroad. You'll be at the forefront of visual storytelling, bringing to life the grit, dedication, and innovation inherent in the Dirt World. Your work will directly support BuildWitt's goal of strengthening these foundational industries by highlighting their importance and the people who drive them.
- • Your responsibilities will encompass the full spectrum of video production. In the pre-production phase, you will actively engage in planning, developing detailed shot lists, and preparing meticulously for shoots. Your creative input will be highly valued as you brainstorm innovative approaches to capture content that is both visually striking and thematically relevant. This collaborative stage ensures that every shoot is strategically planned for maximum impact.
- • During the production phase, you will travel to diverse locations, including active construction and mining sites, to capture high-quality video footage. This will involve skillfully operating a range of professional equipment, including handheld cameras, gimbals, and potentially drones, depending on the project's needs and your expertise. You will be responsible for setting up and managing lighting and audio equipment to ensure optimal recording conditions. Your ability to adapt to various environments and maintain a proactive, positive demeanor on-site is crucial. You will serve as a professional representative of BuildWitt, interacting with site personnel and partners with respect and competence.
- • The role also involves significant post-production and workflow management. You will be tasked with maintaining and organizing all video equipment, media assets, and storage systems, ensuring everything is in optimal working order. This includes assisting with the day-to-day readiness of gear and supporting the editing process between field assignments. While primary editing responsibilities may vary, your contribution to the post-production workflow will be essential in bringing the captured footage to its final form.
- • We are looking for individuals with a profound passion for cinematography and visual storytelling. A proven track record of operating cameras in professional settings is essential, demonstrating your technical proficiency and artistic eye. You must possess the ability to follow creative direction, adhere to shot lists, and execute established workflows efficiently. Strong organizational skills for managing equipment and media are a must, alongside a positive attitude, a curious mindset, adaptability, and a genuine eagerness to learn and improve your craft.
- • This role is physically demanding and requires a love for being active and shooting in outdoor environments. You should be comfortable working in dynamic settings and possess the resilience needed for travel and on-site work. As part of a startup environment, you'll thrive in a fast-paced culture that values transparency, radical candor, and continuous growth. You should have a strong stomach for discomfort and a commitment to pushing boundaries, both individually and as part of a team. This is not a role for those seeking a conventional 9-to-5; it's for those driven by purpose and impact.
- • The hybrid nature of this role, based in Nashville, TN, offers flexibility, but requires significant travel. While schedules have ebbs and flows, expect to be on the road for 2-3 weeks per month. This travel is integral to capturing the authentic stories of the Dirt World across various locations. Your contribution will directly impact BuildWitt's ability to connect with and develop the next generation of skilled workers in essential industries. You will be a key visual storyteller, shaping perceptions and inspiring action through your creative lens.
